Turbo upgrade Tuesday!

Another MK8 ST in with us for a Turbotechnics S285 supply, fit and Dyno tune. This car was previously STG2 tuned by ourselves with , but with the mileage creeping up and the performance slowly disappearing with the wastegate bush becoming more perished, it was time to give it a fresh lease of life!

Now is probably a good time to talk about fuel qualities, we are seeing major discrepancies from all over the country in relation to how 99 the 99RON actually is..

There is no magic tricks that can be done and there certainly won’t be any desensitising of knock sensors around here, so we are limited to what we can do at the exact time your vehicle is on the Dyno. Well this car was hungry for the ignition timing, showing good quality 99RON fuel and giving it an impressive final power figure!

Nearly 290BHP and 420NM was the final result👀

Fresh week and here we go! We won’t bore you with every single mechanical job that’s going on in the workshop everyday, just know it usually includes an ST180 cambelt replacement every single day throughout the week🤣

More interestingly though, on the Dyno today was a Focus ST250 MK3.5. These cars get don’t much praise really as it’s baby brother (MK7 Fiesta ST) takes all the spot light in most avenues. Now if you left an ST250 standard software wise, I would definitely agree! Though once a STG1 tune from is applied, the mountains of torque that becomes available makes these cars much more enjoyable.

A perfect delta gain of 100NM spread across the entire rev range will show you just how different these cars drive after some quality tuning.

Over 274BHP and knocking on the door of 500NM of torque was the end result today!

On our first work day back from our much needed break, not only did we have the pleasure of working through over 100 messages and stacks of online orders, we had Baileys tastefully modified MK8 ST in for a big upgrade!

After 70,000 miles in total and a big handful of them being done at STG2 with , it was time to take off the slightly tired stock turbo and replace with a S285. Surprisingly, even after all those miles, this was not the worst wastegate bush we’d seen, it was actually holding on surprisingly well. Usually, they are about ready to snap off at this point of the cars life.

Rest assured, this is not an issue for the upgraded unit and once bolted up with new gaskets, oil feed line and a fresh oil and filter change, it was time to hit the Dyno!

A few software revisions required to get the boost profile exactly where we wanted it, giving a perfect torque profile, whilst maintaining stable fuel pressure and common sense.

Even on a slightly warmer day, Baileys car still produced over 410NM and over 281BHP. A true night and day difference when the increased torque/power band is experienced on the road.

We again apologise for the lack of content on here recently — after an extremely busy start to the year, we’re finally taking a well-earned break and heading off on a trip to the Nürburgring. 🇩🇪🏁

As a result, we will be closed from the 22nd–28th May.

Are you looking for a one stop shop to have your S58 powered vehicle tuned/modified? Over the last 6 months customers have been taking advantage of our services, allowing us to carry out the remote ECU unlock required, tuning and additional modifications where requested.

Utilising Autotuners mail in ECU unlock service we have been aiming for a 3 to 5 day maximum turn around from start to finish. This includes removing your ECU, having it shipped, returned, refitted, vehicle bolted to the Dyno and custom tuned. These times may vary depending on additional modifications required, such as midpipes, downpipes, hybrid turbos and ethonal sensors.

Here is an example of an M3 we completed last week, this customer also opted for XHP gearbox tuning alongside the custom TRS performance software. Not only did this vehicle produce extremely healthy figures on the Dyno (640bhp and 890nm torque), it has been backed up by a seriously impressive low 6 second 100-200KPH in extremely poor weather conditions and a full boot. This is a completely stock hardware vehicle.

That’s yet another cambelt filled week ticked off✅

In between multiple tuning jobs this week, the workshop has been rammed full of cambelts every single day. Mostly, of course the ST180 variants but we also threw a 1.25 zetec in the mix and a transit wetbelt to finish the week off!

It’s always interesting carrying out health checks on vehicles whilst they are on the ramp as you never know what you may find and more importantly finding defects you as the owners are completely unaware about!

This week that ranged from, timing being incorrect, ball joint pinch bolts being loose, driveshaft horseshoe clamps being missing, coolant clips not even attached to rubber hoses, brake pads being fitted to the incorrect sides, downpipes poorly fitted, axle bushes in extremely poor condition and the list goes on!

✅ RacingLine R600 intake bundle (intake hose + turbo elbow)
✅ RacingLine intercooler
✅ Milltek sports cat downpipe

Finished off perfectly with a RacingLine OEM+ Stage 2 ECU calibration and TCU tuning, seeing gains of almost 450bhp and 580Nm of torque — all while retaining that factory-refined feel.
