🚨 ALARM FAULT β€” AND A Β£1,800 + VAT ECU QUOTE!

This is a perfect example of why we don't simply rely on another garage's diagnostic report β€” even when it comes from a main dealer.

A customer came to us because their vehicle's alarm was repeatedly going off.

The customer had already taken the vehicle to a main dealer and paid Β£155 + VAT for one hour of diagnostic time.

The main dealer then recommended an ECU replacement at around £1,800 + VAT. 😳

The customer contacted us to see if we could repair the ECU.

They brought the vehicle to us together with the main dealer's diagnostic report.

Before doing anything, we explained that we wanted to carry out our own diagnostic assessment rather than simply working from somebody else's report.

πŸ”§ Why?

We've had customers in the past who have said:

"I've already paid for diagnostics somewhere else, so I don't want to pay for diagnostics again."

We completely understand why customers feel that way.

However, this case demonstrates exactly why we cannot diagnose or repair a vehicle based solely on another company's report.

We need to verify the fault ourselves.

πŸ” What did we find?

We did find an ECU fault relating to incorrect configuration.

But when we started analysing the live data and actual values, we noticed something very important:

⚠️ The vehicle was showing BONNET OPEN even though the bonnet was physically CLOSED.

We carried out further checks and found that the bonnet switch was incorrectly positioned.

We correctly positioned the switch and confirmed that the switch was operating correctly.

We then locked the vehicle and carried out further testing.

πŸ” The alarm did not go off. βœ…

πŸ‘ The customer understood the importance of proper diagnosis

The customer was happy to pay our diagnostic fee because they understood that we needed to carry out our own testing and confirm the fault before recommending any repair.

And this is exactly how we believe diagnostics should be done.

πŸ’‘ A diagnostic report is a starting point β€” not always the final answer.

Even if the report comes from a main dealer, we still need to verify the information ourselves.

We don't want to simply replace an expensive ECU because another garage has recommended it.

We want to understand WHY the fault is happening and prove the cause before replacing parts.

That's why our diagnostic charge is not simply a charge for "plugging in a diagnostic machine".

It covers the time required to investigate, test, analyse live data, check wiring/components and confirm the fault.

πŸ”§ Diagnose first. Prove the fault. Then repair.

CALLING ALL GARAGES, VEHICLE TECHNICIANS AND VEHICLE LOCKSMITHS!!

New Training Course Alert!

Following the great success of our training and its high demand, we are launching a new date for our 2-Day Eeprom Training Course.

Due to the chip electronic components crisis and the huge delays in order delivery, getting new replacement electronic parts for cars and vans has come a big issue.

If you have eeprom skills, you can use β€˜donor’, 'Green Parts', 'pre-owned' or 'recycled units' to get these vehicles back on the road very quickly.

Eepromming, coding and programming skills will allow you to turn this problem into a real and profitable income stream.

This course will provide the foundation of how memory works into vehicle ECU like immobilisers, engines, body computers, instrument clusters, airbags and how to program them.

DAY-1: from 9:00 to 17:00 - Classroom training (theory lesson)

DAY-2: Garage training (practical lesson)

Level of experience: this training is for beginners, so no previous experience is required.
