Part-Time Evening Controller – No Experience Required (Full Training Provided)

Must be willing to relax and watch Netfix when not busy!

Location: Oakley, near Basingstoke
Hours: 3:00pm – 11:00pm
Shift Pattern: 2 Saturdays and 2 Sundays per month

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Part-Time Evening Controller to join our team. No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided.

The role includes:

Answering incoming telephone calls.
Taking and dispatching recovery jobs to our drivers.
Carrying out light administrative duties.
Helping ensure the smooth running of our evening operation.

The ideal applicant will have:

A confident and professional telephone manner.
Basic computer skills.
Must be reliable.

WE ARE RECRUITING:
Vehicle Recovery Technician £45,000 to £50,000 pa

Location: Oakley

Hours: Full Time plus out of hour call out rota.

Essential Requirements:

Class 1 or Class 2 HGV licence
Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph
Ability to pass full police vetting
Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently
Good communication and customer service skills
Must live within our operating area

Desirable:

Recovery and/or HIAB experience (training provided if not)
Mechanical knowledge or experience in vehicle maintenance (commercial vehicles advantageous)

Bakers Recovery is a family-run business based in Oakley, operating a modern fleet of recovery vehicles with a team of over 20 staff. We provide a professional, reliable 24-hour vehicle recovery service.
We are proud to support Hampshire Police, National Highways, and leading motoring organisations, delivering high standards in often demanding and time-critical situations.

The Role:

This is a varied, hands-on position involving roadside recovery, vehicle transport, and accident response. You’ll work closely with customers, emergency services, and partner organisations, often in high-pressure environments.
Full training is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out safe roadside recovery and transportation of light vehicles
Undertake heavy recovery operations, including complex incidents
Respond to and manage accident recovery for vehicles of all sizes
Operate specialist equipment including HIAB and Eastract systems
Deliver a professional service in time-sensitive and customer-facing situations

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking someone reliable, proactive, and calm under pressure. You should be comfortable working independently, making decisions in real-time, and representing the business professionally.
If you meet the core requirements but don’t yet have full recovery experience, we’ll provide structured training and support to help you develop.

Part-time Office Administrator £18,500k - 19,500k per annum (26 hours per week, 4 week rolling rotation)

WHO WE ARE:
Bakers Recovery is a family run business operating from our site in Oakley. We have a fleet of recovery trucks and employ over 20 staff.
Bakers Recovery is a contractor for Hampshire Police, the Highways Agency and various motoring organisations. We offer a 24 hour vehicle recovery service.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
A reliable, trustworthy, organised, efficient, proactive, multitasker to take on and own the operational, administrative and customer service elements as required by the business.
Tasks include but are not limited to receiving phone calls and other methods of communication, job administration and invoicing using a dedicated database, dealing with any enquiries customer or general.
Our ideal candidate is someone who is computer literate, minimum requirements are Microsoft word, excel and outlook. You will need to be comfortable with things such as searching distances and locations on google maps and communicating this to other staff members. You will be required to pass CRB vetting.
Customer service and discretion is of the upmost importance so looking for a friendly and professional manner.
Our team environment is critical to our well functioning business and so this role requires a good team player.
We will invest on the job training to ensure that the additional aspects of this role are achieved.
