This is one from the last couple of weeks.
A real blast from the past.
This 2.8 injection capri was in for head gasket failure.
Unfortunately once the heads were removed the cylinders looked in a bad way so the customer decided to go for a full rebuild.
The block was machined with new oversize pistons, the crank had a re grind with new bearings, high pressure oil pump was replaced, both heads were skimmed an hardened valve seats for running on unleaded, all exhaust studs and nuts replaced, the block and heads were cleaned and painted an a full gasket set.
I also changed all the filters, thermostat and waterless coolant was added with fresh fluids.
The car now has all its power back and ready to go back to the customer.
It has been a pleasure working on this one😎

A citroen in for a wet belt.
It was showing signs of wear so I did a full kit,oil change and clean out of the strainer.
Thankfully it was caught before it caused any further damage.

Firstly happy new year to all.
Last year was a very busy one and would like to thank all of my customers for your support in 2025.
I have moved premises to a bigger unit at the end of 2025 so I can keep up with the growing number of customers coming through the door.
Unfortunately as I am so busy at the workshop I am no longer offering a mobile service but do however offer free collection on vehicles which can be driven in from the local area.
I also offer recovery at a decent price for the ones that are non runners.
I am currently running at around a 2 week advance booking window but aim to get that reduced in 2026.
Once again thank you for your continued support and look forward to welcoming more customers through the doors this year.

This is one of my recent jobs.
I had this 2019 Ford ranger 2.0 eco blue recovered in with suspected timing belt failure.
I removed the timing cover to inspect it and it was clear the belt had failed.
This one had done quite a bit of damage and bent a few valves so the head was removed, valves replaced, skimmed with the carbon cleaned with new valve stem seals.
I replaced all the broken rocker arms with new camshafts, injector seals, sump pan, timing cover, water pump, new timing belt kit with oil pump and oil pickup strainer.
I also carried out a full service while I had it and took it in for mot.
The truck now runs really well with a fresh mot so now it’s ready to go back to work.

I had this Range Rover SVR in a couple of weeks ago for a coolant leak.
On closer inspection it was clear that the coolant was gathering in the centre of the engine.
After removing the supercharger and the inlet I found a couple of leaks.
Both from hard plastic pipes going to each cylinder head.
After a bit of research I found a modified kit which was made from aluminium which will eliminate the issue for good.
I also replaced the oil cooler seals as a precaution which covered everything coolant related in that area.
I road tested and checked for leaks with everything nice and dry👌

This is one of my jobs from this week.
I had this Range Rover evoque in for an engine rattle.
This has the 2.0 diesel ingenium engine which are known for timing chain issues.
The noise was coming from the gearbox end of the engine so was clear the chain was worn.
I removed the gearbox and replaced the full timing chain kit with vvt pulley and all the gears, tensioners and guides.
I also did and oil and filter change and changed the coolant.
Now the car sounds spot on with no rattles👌

I had these 2 in last week both with timing belt failures.
The transit custom had 60k miles on the clock and the wet belt had stripped its teeth causing damage to the camshafts and rockers.
I replaced the cams and rockers along with a timing belt kit, timing cover, sump pan,aux belts, oil pickup all with genuine parts and also did a full service.
The transit connect had completely destroyed the top end bending 3 valves at the top due to the broken rockers removing the collets.
The damage was pretty severe which had also snapped the valve guides so a new cylinder head was the cheaper option.
I replaced the timing belt kit with water pump, rockers, lifters and also did a full service, new condensor with a re gas, front fog lamp and side door wiring loom.
Both were run up to temperature, road tested and checked for leaks with no issues so ready to go back to work👌

This is one of my jobs from a few weeks ago.
I had this Smart Fortwo in for a bad engine rattle.
I removed the engine to check the timing chain and found it to be very loose with one of the guides split in half.
Thankfully it did no further damage and once the new chain kit was fitted it sounded as it should.

This is one of my jobs from a few weeks ago.
The car was recovered into me with a misfire.
There was no compression on cylinder 3 so I removed the cylinder head and found a damaged valve.
I sent the lead off to get skimmed and all the valve guides were checked with new stem seals and the seats re cut.
I also replaced the timing chain kit while it was apart as part of the job as the car had covered 140k miles.
The car now runs nice and smooth with plenty of power.
I also had to replace the passenger window regulator and 2 tyres while I had it.

This is one of my jobs from last week.
I had this Citroen c4 with the 1.2 puretech engine suffering from the usual wet belt issues.
After removing the covers it was clear this was very near to total failure with teeth missing all the way round however the car was still running.
I removed the sump to clean out the pickup and found that it was that blocked it had started to suck the metal gauze into the oil pump.
Thankfully no major damage was done and after making sure everything was clean and fitting the new belt kit with an oil change it sounded perfect.
This customer was very lucky, another day of driving and it could have been a very different story.
