Unfortunately at Japfest our good friend Matthew Denham had a gearbox failure on his samsonas sequential,

I stripped and inspected, ordered the replacement parts and after meticulously cleaning everything reassembled the box ready for more hammer 🔨

I also found a previous repair i had done to repair the input shaft with a shrink fit sleeve had failed and come off, so this time i opted to weld and machine the pilot bearing spigot back to spec to keep the clutch running true.

These cars get so put through so much, it is a constant battle to keep them tiptop 👌

To try and help it survive better in future i have added an external oil pump on an rpm strategy to make use of the oil spray bar in the gearbox to maintain lubrication on all the gears during extreme G forces 🤘

Custom prop shaft for Tobi walkers new jz bmw build after another company let him down.

We are looking forward to seeing it in the flesh next week for a full alignment and setup 👌

After the second test on full power running just over a thousand horsepower we had an issue with the heads warping on the outer edges due to the increased exhaust temps.

After inspection I realised the water flow coming up from the block wasn’t giving enough cooling priority to the lower outside edges of the heads due to the water ports in the gaskets coupled with the heads being weaker at that point then ideal.

The solution was to weld up the large water ports in that edge of the head faces and drill the heads and gaskets to match the blocks coolant passages, this increases the strength of the head surface that previously warped and greatly increases the water flow through the problematic area of the heads.

We are out testing this on new years eve so fingers crossed we have solved it 🤟

The silly build is coming along nicely! There were some difficulties to overcome, like how to fit the 4” quick release boost clamp to the throttle body without warping it 🫣. It worked out perfectly after some intricate machining 😬.

Full progress photo dump coming soon!

Rear rad setup completed, reverse clutch pedal made and fitted. I had a mare finding a home for the electric power steering pump. I need to add a bit of heat protection but its gotten the weight nice and low and safe from crashes 🤣

Next big step was the 4” exhaust system, in order to be able to access everything in a pinch the car has been built so you can get to each component including the gearbox without having to remove anything else, this meant somehow getting a 4” system under the car without using the tunnel. A bit of fore thought and some oval exhaust later 😎

One thing thats been a problem with the Nissan S & R bodies when it comes to drifting is the steering racks!
As soon as you move to a large angle steering lock kit they are on a path to failure 😞.
We are still in the development phase but i’ve been working away on a solution to multiple problems!
By building a complete new front subframe we will be offering a bolt on solution that utilises a much stronger steering rack that:

• bolts on instead of using the awful bushes

• Moves the steering column closer to the chassis rail for increased clearance for engine conversions

•Moves the power steering line connections away from the engine mounts for easy access

•Relocates the rack forward to remove the need for offset rack spacers to prevent over centre steering issues

•Reinforced design allowing much more room for a variety of sumps across multiple engine platforms

•Works with standard steering columns with our new lower section

•New unit is a direct fit giving the original engine mount positions to work with conversion engine mounts.

Watch this space as they will be available to purchase this year! 😬🥳
