This week's edition of engineering the impossible.
A v8 now sits where a straight 6 used to sit, the new engine also has bespoke engine mounts to lower it even further in the car.
The brief: 4-1 exhaust manifolds, which will be larger diameter than standard and also longer in length, also all pipes must be the same length!
Only one real problem, the steering rack runs straight through where most of the pipework would sit, and to make things even more fun the manifolds will need to suit both RHD and LHD cars, once the RHD side has been built we swap the steering rack for a LHD.
Quite a lot of measuring, mocking up, trial fits etc but one side is now done, it's tight, very tight but the pipes will be ceramic coated to help with thermal insulation.
There is so little space it's actually difficult to get pictures of the exhaust in situ.
On to the other side next week.
