I had a larger company take a poke at me for operating out of my car while they operate out of a 40k van.

I’ve been operating out of my car for about 6 years now, this one cost me 6k I pay about £30 a year in road tax and with today’s prices it’s cost me £108 to fill up and returns me about 57-60 MPG so around 13p a mile. A 3.5T Mercedes sprinter which is the most common van we would use would cost you maybe 4-5K then you would want to kit it out with shelves and boxes for tools so maybe 2k 22-33mpg and about £335 a year tax and about £120 to fill up and about 22p a mile.
I’m not great at numbers but to me it looks like using my car is better value then a van, not having to spend so much on fuel means I’m able to pass the savings on. I’d love to be able to afford to run a van and absorb that cost but at the moment I am one man and have rent and bills to pay. One day I’ll have a van but most of my customers will confirm that it’s a rare occasion that I can’t do the job with th tools I’ve brought with me. Rant over

Flags were recently spotted across numerous towns.

Councils in Derbyshire have "no plans" to remove St George or union jack flags from lamp posts or roundabouts.

The Katharine House Banbury Christmas Tractor Run will be rolling through the streets once again on Saturday 13th December, lighting up our local roads in support of a cause close to all our hearts. 🚜✨

Every year this event gets bigger, brighter and more creative and each time we’re blown away by your support. Over the past 9 years, your generosity has helped raise over £226,000 for Katharine House Hospice, and we can’t wait to see what we can achieve together this year.

So grab your diary, tell your friends, alert the group chats, and cancel whatever else you might’ve had planned, because this is one festive evening you definitely don’t want to miss!

My post knocker was stolen last night please can we make it as hot as possible. The John Deere tractor was also stolen! What is going on with the world at the moment 😡

There is currently a big safety recall in place on vehicles fitted with takata airbags, some of these recalls are a do not drive recall after a woman in France died. It is mostly French brands that are affected but some other brands are also affected.
To check if your vehicle is affected goto

And enter your VIN number before you contact your brand dealer.

Your vin number is on your V5c logbook and can be found on the outside bottom right corner of your windscreen, this is a 17 character long number/letter combination.

Check if there is an outstanding vehicle safety recall on your car. Just visit this page and enter the VIN of your vehicle.

Admin, the downside of working for yourself. On the upside one of the 3rd party companies that supply me with work sent me this today 🥳 I’m also at a trade show next week to talk to the AA and RAC as they have made hints at getting onto their books
