2026 is a milestone year for us as it marks a quarter of a century since Retro Custom first opened its doors for business!

During this time, we have kept many thousands of classic Volkswagens on the road, turned customers’ dreams into reality and ensured that our customers reach their many destinations as trouble-free as possible. We have put together many vehicles for all budgets ranging from daily driver to full-blown award winning and magazine featured show cars and have developed an amazing and loyal customer base, many of whom have gone on to become good friends.

25 years on, we have evolved to become what we are today and we look forward to many more years of serving classic VW owners both throughout the UK and overseas.

2025 was one of our busiest years on record and this naturally has been reflected in our lack of social media updates. So, following repeated requests from our customers, we will be increasing our social media presence significantly this year and you can expect to see a lot more of what we are up to, free giveaways, latest news, helpful tips and information drawn from all these years of our extensive experience to assist you with your classic Volkswagen ownership. This is our way of giving back to the community which has supported us for so long.

We would like to conclude this post with a big thank you to all our customers past, present and future for supporting us and allowing us the privilege of working on their Volkswagens, some of whom have been using us continuously for 25 years!
We would also like to thank our suppliers, followers and supporters both online and offline, all of whom we are always grateful and appreciate your support - we wouldn’t be where we are without you!

Our shop shirts are now available for you to purchase!

We know it’s now a bit cold for wearing just a t-shirt outside, so we have also added hoodies to keep you warm over these winter months.
Both feature a Retro Custom logo breast print with large rear print and a sleeve print on each side, they are both available in the following sizes:

Small (36”), Medium (40”), Large (44”), X Large (48”), 2X Large (52”)
(Other sizes available on request)

T-shirts are £18 and hoodies are £29.50 each.

Postage is £3.50 within the U.K. Overseas shipping is available - let us know where you are and we’ll give you a postage cost.

Payment can be made by PayPal, credit/debit card (no AMEX, sorry!) or BACS.

On 3rd January 2001, Retro Custom first opened its doors to the public offering servicing and custom modifications to classic Volkswagens and also offered a range of custom designed parts and accessories.

Little did we know that 20 years, six premises and several thousand vehicles later, Retro Custom would still be going strong! Despite the current COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 turned out to be our busiest year ever with a huge demand for our services which pushed us to the limit in trying to accommodate you all.

It hasn’t been an easy ride through the years, with many, many long hours, late nights and even all-nighters along the way, but the highs have outweighed the lows and we’ve kept on growing while we’ve been doing our best to keep your vehicles on the road.

We would like to thank all our customers, our followers across social media and everyone who has been involved and supported us along the way. We wouldn’t be here without you and we are always ever grateful for your custom and your support.

Due to the huge volume of work we have, our social media has been quiet for some time. However, we have a lot of new things happening this year which we have been working on for a while and will be far more active across social media than previously, so stay tuned for regular updates, news and special offers and giveaways.

We would like to wish all our customers and followers a very happy and prosperous New Year and hope that 2016 is as special for you as it is for us!

In January 15 years ago, Retro Custom was established working out of a 200 sq ft office in Hertfordshire designing and manufacturing custom designed accessories for air-cooled VW's which were displayed on a Retro Custom built show car, debuted at The Volksworld Show 2001.

15 years, over 1,500 air-cooled VW's later and operating out of a 9000 sq ft workshop, Retro Custom is still going strong!

We would like to thank all our customers and followers who have supported us throughout the past 15 years. Your support is always appreciated and never taken for granted!

2016 is going to be a big year for us and to kick off 2016 we also have some big news which will be announced shortly, so stay tuned!

Did you know we manufacture faithful reproductions of the dealer accessory fuel measuring sticks offered in the 1950's and early 60's?

Showing the amount of fuel in litres and the range of that fuel in kilometres, all you need to do is dip the stick in the tank and you'll know if you'll make it to your destination without needing your reserve lever!

Available for both the earlier flat pre-1955 tanks and the later hu**ed 1955 on tanks.
