🧰Bardsley’s Garage & Recovery Ltd is looking for an experienced LGV Technician to join our growing and dedicated team. We are a well-established, family-run business known for delivering reliable vehicle repair, maintenance, and recovery services. Our workshop supports a varied fleet including cars, commercial vans, ambulances, and ceremonial vehicles, giving our technicians a diverse and rewarding workload.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who takes pride in their work and wants to grow within a supportive company that values its team.

⏰Working Hours

Monday to Friday
7:00am – 4:00pm or 9:00am – 6:00pm
42.5 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

🔧Inspection of vehicles
🔧Repair and maintenance of cars, commercial vans, ambulances, and ceremonial vehicles
🔧Collection and delivery of vehicles when required
🔧Maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety

Requirements

✅Minimum 5 years’ experience as a technician
✅Level 3 qualification in vehicle maintenance/repair (or equivalent)
✅Ability to work effectively within a small team
✅Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering quality work

Today marks the end of an era for us as Kenny is retiring from the company after a loyal 30 years service, throughout the years he has been with us he has done a couple of different jobs but mainly driving our recovery trucks, most people will know Kenny for his long stories and tales, he will be missed by us all and we wish him a long and happy retirement

As we start to celebrate Christmas, we would like to thank all of our customers for their continued custom and support, our network of outstanding suppliers and most importantly our fantastic staff for all their hard work throughout the year as without them it would not be possible,

We have traveled to every part uk this year collecting and delivering our customers vehicles and have covered around 85,000 miles in doing so

2025 marked a special milestone for us as we proudly celebrated 60 years in business, by bringing all of our customers, suppliers and staff together to celebrate what we have achieved, having been founded in 1965 by the legendary David Bardsley, all those that had the privilege of meeting him won’t disagree with that statement, I have included a short video of the day

📣Job vacancy HGV Technician 📣

Bardsleys Garage & Recovery Ltd are a commercial vehicle workshop based in Atherton Manchester, having just celebrated our 60th year in business we pride ourselves on producing top quality customer service. We specialise in fleet vehicle maintenance of all vehicle sizes, makes and models, operating two garages each having its own specialism including a class 4 & 7 mot lane.

Due to business development and rapid growth, we are looking for qualified HGV Technician to join our company.

Overview
We are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy goods vehicles. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our customers.

Duties

Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Carry out MOT preparation.
Perform diagnostics to identify issues using schematics and electrical experience.
Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively for assembly and equipment repair.
Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used for inventory management.
Undertake heavy lifting as required during the repair process.

Skills

Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in HGV maintenance and repair.
Familiarity with electrical systems and troubleshooting methods for HGVs.
Competence in using hand tools and power tools effectively.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Strong communication skills

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 in HGV Maintenance and Repair
Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in HGV maintenance and repair.

Working hours

Monday - Friday
Choice of working times , 7am-4pm, 8am- 5pm, 9am - 6pm
Overtime available

Pay to be dependent on relevant experience and knowledge, and to be discussed at interview
