Good morning all, hope you are all good, just a bit of info for everyone.
If you are thinking of buying a new car in the near future, if its a Ford 1.0lt eco engine or a Citreon/Peugeot 1.2lt engine, please check the timing belt replacement history, check that warranty will cover this part if it were to fail.
These engines are fitted with a "wet belt", that is the belts are inside the engine and run through the engine oil.
We are seeing a lot of these engines fail due to the timing belt and/or oil pump belt being degraded due to the engine oil, the dealer set time for replacement of these belts is often 125k miles or 10 years, we are seeing these fail as early as 36k miles causing extensive damage and sometimes a costly engine replacement.
Please just check and if you need advice please do not hesitate to call us on 01784 247696
