Have you seen these symbols on your dash before?

TPMS – What is it, and why does it matter? 🛞 🚗 🚙

Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS)

What is TPMS? 🔧
TPMS monitors tyre pressures and alerts the driver when a tyre is under-inflated or when there is a fault with the monitoring system or sensor.

There are two main types:

➡️ Direct TPMS – uses pressure sensors fitted inside the wheels/tyres to measure pressure directly.

➡️ Indirect TPMS – uses the vehicle’s wheel-speed sensors and other data to identify changes that can indicate a loss of tyre pressure.

⚠️ TPMS doesn’t replace checking your tyre pressures manually. If your are unsure how to do this pop in and see us at any of our depots.

🛞 Why is TPMS important?
Incorrect tyre pressure can affect:

• Vehicle handling
• Tyre wear
• Fuel/energy consumption
• Tyre temperature and stress
