β₯οΈ this.
I've had 2 phone calls this morning asking if I can take people to their driving test this week.
I'll give you a slight idea on why I'd never ever do this at such short notice...
It took me from start to qualifying 18 months to become a qualified driving instructor. ££££s spent training, paying for qualifying tests etc.
Often doing 50 hours a week as a HGV driver then afterwards doing a few hours of training. Then I quit a stable well paid job to become a self-employed driving instructor.
I've travelled the country doing courses spending £££s to make sure I'm the best I can be.
Every test my badge number gets noted, and the faults/pass or fail is then recorded against my number. If I take people I've not seen to test or hire my car out, this goes against me. Which can then lead onto me possibly losing my job.
So, if you are unprepared and are trying to find an instructor 2 days prior to your test - just ring Arnold Clarke and get yourself a hire car.
Also, if you crash my car on your test. I then lose the ability to work. So it isn't worth it.
So if you think instructors are unreasonable for saying they won't take you at short notice, or if they think you aren't ready - just read the above again is the why.
