Unusual job this week.
Lining out a 2008 Toyota Hiace with tongue and groove pine cladding.
Makes a nice change from stretch carpet but takes a good deal longer to fit.
Flooring is the standard Novacore floor I like to use. Easy to shape and lay and both hard wearing and waterproof.
The electrical system is a 100Ah AGM battery with CTek DC-DC charging.
This runs the habitation lights, night light, USB sockets and the fitted roof fan/vent.

Just installed one of the first M1 tested 150cm Glidemotion 2 RIB beds from .campervandesign into this SWB T6 Transporter.
Ably assisted by Sean and Adam at Clearcut's HQ at Barnstaple.
As it was straight off the drawing board it needed a few nips and tucks but it now fits like a glove. What a transformation from the Kombi that the van started life as.

Something a little different this week.
Added side flares, Safari windows and roof vent to this rather nice MWB MAN as part of an ongoing project.
We've also fitted several Fiamma awnings, solar panels and vents to other clients vehicles.
Ready to get onto a few conversions in the next few weeks.

Spent the last week turning this work van into a day/motability van for our client.
Stripped out the old ply panelling and bulkhead and added windows all round then sound deadened and insulated the interior before carpeting and carpet panelling the interior.
Laid a new vinyl floor and then fitted a pair of M1 tested rear seats along with grab handles to aid rear access.
Also fitted a pair of running board side steps for additional help in getting in and out of the vehicle.
Lastly built and installed a pair of storage bins to carry loose items.

Just finished the latest full conversion and this one is a true one off.
Starting from a standard LWB Transporter panel van the brief was to create an off grid camper/day van to meet both work and family requirements.
It now boasts Skyline Aurora pop-top, Glidemotion sliding RIB bed/seat, Rusty Lee slide and swivel double cab seat along with a full Victron off-grid electrical system.
The electrics run from a 300Ah LiFePO4 battery with 30A DC-DC charger, 160W solar panel, 15A MPPT solar controller and 2000W inverter charger.
The van also includes a 67l underslung water tank feeding internal and external water, which along with a external gas point can feed a de-mountable Joolca on-demand boiler mounted to the side of the van, providing piping hot showers wherever you park up.
All the internal furniture was hand built to cater for this rather complex design brief.

Install of Glidemotion RIB bed into SWB Transit Custom.
This system allows a 3/4 width RIB bed to slide from the back of the van to right up to behind the front seats.
Ideal for either a multi-purpose van or a camper.
Installation takes a couple of days.

Hand Over Day.
The owners collected their lovely new camper today from us
Another unique Hippo Camper goes out into the world after being constructed during August.

03/08/2025

Starting a full conversion on this LWB Transit Custom this week.
Stripped it all out and fitted a Skyline roof with Bi-fold bed.
Installed windows all round and carried out sound deadening and first stage insulation to the wall cavities and floor recesses.
All ready for installing the charging system and leisure battery next week and then onto the internal carpeting.
Keep an eye on progress over the next couple of weeks.

30/07/2025

Doing a few more vans this week, fitting solar panels, changing leisure batteries and fitting another Skyline roof, with insulation and carpeting.
Ready to start a full conversion on a long wheelbase Transit Custom next week.
