Just a heads up, please leave extra time if arriving for appointments from lunchtime today for 3 weeks. This will affect any traffic coming from Blairgowrie direction. If things change before that we will update the page. Diversion via Coupar Angus and Meigle. 😢

Due to emergency gas repairs, a section of the A926 between Blairgowrie and Alyth is closed.

SGN expects the road to be closed from its junction with the property known as Hollycroft to the property known as North Littleton for approximately three weeks.

A shuttle bus will run between New Alyth and Meigle from lunchtime today. Connections to Blairgowrie and Dundee are available at Meigle. The shuttle bus will stop at New Alyth Shelter, Alyth square and opposite the Post Office in Meigle.

Parents and carers will be contacted directly about any changes to school transport.

The diversion route is as follows: A93 - A923 - A94- B954 (Rattray - Blairgowrie - Coupar Angus – Meigle – Alyth)

🕊️ It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Jim Macfarlane, aged 95 — a founding partner of Central Garage Alyth and a true pillar of our community.

Jim, a son of Glenisla, co-founded the garage in 1960 alongside Graham Buick, after both had worked together as mechanics at McBain’s in Alyth. Their vision, grit, and friendship laid the foundation for a business that has now served Alyth and the surrounding area for over six decades.

From transforming an old bake house into a working garage, to long days repairing everything from cars to combine harvesters — even Walker‘s the Bakers Pie Machine! Jim’s dedication helped shape the spirit of Central Garage. His legacy lives on in the generations of local workers who followed, and in the continued service of the garage to our community.

We honour Jim’s memory with gratitude and pride. His contribution will never be forgotten and our love goes out to Janey, Rod, Alan, Ruth, Shirley-Ann, Wendy, Stephen and families 💙

A reminder the A926 between Blairgowrie and Alyth will be closed from 9.30am tomorrow (Monday Feb 17) because of emergency gas repairs.
