Bamburgh Castle really does look like someone designed a castle by simply turning everything up to maximum.

There’s been a stronghold on this great lump of rock for well over a thousand years. Bamburgh was a royal centre of the Northumbrian kings, the Normans later rebuilt it in stone, and the huge 12th-century keep still dominates the middle of the site. By the 19th century it had fallen into serious decline before William Armstrong bought it and poured a fortune into restoring the place.

And then there’s the setting - walls dropping almost straight from the rock, the North Sea behind and miles of coast around it. Northumberland has no shortage of castles, but Bamburgh is playing in a different league.

A sad but unfortunately necessary post.

It has come to our attention that guests have been using the electric hook up to charge their Electric Vehicles, not only is the cost to ourselves massive for this, it has caused significant damage to three of our Electric Points.

Tripping Circuit Breakers: An EV continuously pulls a heavy load that can overload the pitch or field circuit breaker, cutting off electricity to your caravan or neighboring pitches.

Fire and Equipment Overload: Caravan EHU bollards (typically 16-amp supplies) are built to power low-draw caravan appliances like lights, small fridges, and kettles. Drawing heavy, continuous current to charge an EV can overheat the wiring, melt sockets, or start an electrical fire.

Fairness and Unmetered Costs: Our caravan pitches feature unmetered electricity. Charging an EV for several hours steals substantial electricity that is not priced into a standard pitch fee, driving up costs for site owners.

The nearest charging point to the site is only six miles away in Wooler within the bus station car park, others are located near by in Belford at the market place and the Purdey lodge just off the A1. Please use these if you are visiting with an Electric vehicle.
