Not every repair needs a trip back to the workshop.

If a truck or trailer has a problem in the yard, on site or out working, sometimes the quickest answer is getting a service van to it and sorting it where it stands.

Our mobile vans are equipped for commercial vehicle repairs and call-outs, whether it’s a fault that’s stopped the vehicle completely or something that needs dealing with before it gets worse.

It’s something we use ourselves on the haulage fleet too — because recovering a vehicle back to the workshop for a repair that could have been done at the roadside doesn’t make much sense.

Sunday isn’t always about repairs — sometimes it’s about finding the right truck for the job.

As well as the workshop side of WH Commercials, we also deal in commercial vehicle sales. Because we run trucks ourselves and work on them every day, we know there’s a bit more to buying a used lorry than a tidy cab and a fresh coat of chassis paint.

here’s one that can save a lot of hassle — getting the vehicle to us in the first place.

If you’ve got a trailer due an inspection or repair but don’t have a driver spare to bring it over, speak to us. We can arrange collection, get the work done at our workshop and return it when it’s ready.

It’s particularly useful when you’ve got trailers parked up over the weekend. Get the maintenance done while they’re not earning anyway, rather than losing time during the working week.

A truck being off the road is one problem. Having no idea when you’re getting it back is another.

That’s why we try to keep customers updated while their vehicle is with us. If an inspection turns up extra work, we’d rather explain what we’ve found, what actually needs doing and get a decision quickly than have the truck sat in the yard waiting.

We’re working on making that even easier through the WH Commercials customer portal too — maintenance records, workshop documents and vehicle history all in one place, with automatic reminders being added for upcoming PMIs.

It’s being built around what we’d want to see ourselves as a fleet operator.

We can collect trailers, bring them into the workshop for repairs or maintenance and get them turned around ready for when they’re needed again. It saves sending a driver over just to drop one off and then having to arrange another collection afterwards.

We already do this with our own fleet, so if collecting and returning the trailer makes life easier, just ask when you book it in.

Tuesday and it’s a brake testing day at WH Commercials.

A roller brake test gives you a proper picture of what’s happening at each wheel — not just whether the vehicle stops, but whether the brakes are balanced and performing as they should.

It’s useful between PMIs, before MOT or simply when you want to know exactly where you stand before sending a vehicle back out to work.

We test our own fleet through the rollers as well as customer trucks and trailers, so if you need one checking, give us a call and we’ll get you booked in.

Monday morning and this one’s about the paperwork behind the spanners.

A good maintenance record should tell you exactly what was checked, what was found and what was done about it. That’s why we’re putting more of our workshop records through our own customer portal, giving customers a clearer view of the work carried out on their vehicles and trailers.

Less chasing paperwork and a better maintenance trail when you actually need it.

It’s something we use for our own fleet too, so it’s being built around how commercial vehicles are actually operated rather than just adding another bit of admin.

Saturday morning and one of the service vans is out doing a repair on site.

Not every job needs a truck or trailer bringing into the workshop. If it can be sorted where it’s parked, we’ll get out to it and deal with it there — particularly when bringing the vehicle back to us would mean more downtime than the repair itself.

Our vans are set up for commercial vehicle work and also support our own haulage fleet when they’re away from the yard.
