Another Yaris out of the workshop!

This one was originally booked in for a Dinitrol UK top-up coating, but unfortunately it wasn’t quite that straightforward.

The car had its original coating applied back in 2023 and hadn’t received a top-up or inspection since. With the certification no longer up to date, it was back to square one!

The underside was stripped back, thoroughly assessed and treated using my usual multi-layer Dinitrol process. This also included a full cavity wax treatment, as there was no evidence of it having been carried out previously.

Now properly protected and ready to hit the road again!

Guys, this is exactly why annual inspections and keeping your certification up to date are so important!

Underbody protection requires yearly inspections and bi-annually top-ups to allow any areas needing to be investigated and picked up early before the failing coating and corrosion becomes a bigger issue.

Keeping on top of your coating not only helps protect your vehicle but also ensures your certification is maintained.

Morning! Had this Wee Kia GT in for some treatment this customer has the right idea.
This car was purchased as a long term car and to keep it on top condition it needed to be protected long term. That’s where Dinitrol UK comes into play! A fully certified coating was carried out on this car and I wanted to make sure there was no stone unturned on it! As per usual a full 3 stage coating was applied. A proper job!

A wee bit of dry ice blasting from a couple of weeks back!

This Ford Fiesta XR2 gearbox came up an absolute treat after a good scrub!

Just goes to show what a difference dry ice blasting can make, removing years of built-up dirt, grease and grime without damaging the original finish

One thing worth mentioning though! Dry ice blasting DOES NOT remove corrosion! It’s purely a cleaning tool, not a rust removal process. It’s fantastic for cleaning up original components and revealing what’s underneath, but any corrosion still needs to be dealt with abrasives.

Perfect for those wanting to freshen up original components without going down the route of abrasive blasting.

Another BRAND NEW CAR underbody protection package!

This time, a lovely brand-new Mazda MX-5 in for a FULL CERTIFIED Dinitrol UK UNDERBODY PROTECTION PACKAGE!

As per usual with these new MX-5s, there’s already some minor surface corrosion starting around the subframe welds. But the real concern? Take a look at the last photo!

Various areas underneath have next to ZERO protection apart from a thin layer of factory paint!

Even worse, some of these areas are mounting points for aluminium braces. And as we all know, aluminium, steel and salty Scottish winter roads are NOT a happy combination! Galvanic corrosion is certainly not something you want starting on your brand-new pride and joy!

So, additional protective paint was applied to the exposed areas, including the subframes and vulnerable mounting points, before finishing everything off with the signature Dinitrol UK BRONZE WAX!

The pristine BILSTEIN dampers, aluminium hubs and suspension arms were treated with clear protective wax to retain that lovely factory-fresh appearance while providing additional corrosion protection!

All carried out as part of a FULL CERTIFIED DINITROL TREATMENT by an authorised application centre, giving this MX-5 the protection it deserves from day one!

Had this wee Abarth 595 in for the full underside treatment, and while it was here it also got a much-needed exhaust upgrade!

The original Fiat system had seen better days, with plenty of corrosion and a massive hole in it 😬 So out with the old and in with a lovely 2.5” stainless steel Scorpion Exhausts // Red Power cat-back system 🔥 Much better looking, much better sounding and no more rusty exhaust!

Underneath, this one was drastically needing some TLC. A thorough clean first, followed by all visible corrosion being mechanically ground back, treated, converted and painted before being finished off with Dinitrol black underbody wax 😎

Now the underside is properly protected and the Abarth has a stainless system to match the attitude.

This lovely Volkswagen GTE came into DRR with less than 50 miles on the clock — and the owner wasn’t hanging about when it came to protecting it! 👌🏻
This car got treated with the clear hard wax and additional cavity wax added to the internal structures. A few areas such as the rear suspension arms,battery shields & front suspension got a coating of dinitrol high zinc stone chip first prior to the wax.

First Gen Fridays 😎🔥

It’s mad how much a bodykit can completely change the look of a car! Good or bad? That’s all down to personal preference I may be slightly biast to choose 🤣.

We are proud to be one of the very few Rx7 and rotary specialist in the UK. With a massive help on the engine building and development side with my dad.

My dad and myself have owned and modified rx7’s for combined over half a century!
From high horsepower N/A motors to fire breathing turbos.
From 12A to 20B.

Whatever the age and whatever the rotary there’s one place in Scotland to be.

A nice FB first-gen RX-7 in the workshop getting some well-deserved TLC!

Another MX-5 in for some much-needed underside protection! 🔧

And this one was a bit of a Trojan horse 🐎

2012 car, only around 30,000 miles on the clock and really tidy bodywork. You’d look at it and think it must be just as clean underneath…

Nope.

Once I started digging into the original underbody coating, the real story started to appear. The affected areas were taken right back until I found good, solid steel, then properly treated, epoxy sealed and painted before being finished in Dinitrol UK bronze wax.

Unfortunately, three areas had gone beyond saving and needed welded repairs, so the good ol’ R-Tech Welding Equipment MIG was dusted off and some fresh repair sections were made up.

While it was here, the wheels were sent off to The Wheel Specialist Aberdeen for a full refurb using the OEM process to get the colour spot on — and they came back looking brand new.

Just goes to show: low mileage does NOT mean rust-free. This car has averaged roughly 2,000 miles a year, yet the underside still needed serious attention.

And a heads-up — I’m now booking into next year for underbody protection! 📅

Don’t sleep on getting your car protected. The sooner you book it in, the sooner I can get it protected — because rust certainly isn’t going to wait for an available slot!

Look after the underside as much as you look after the shiny side. 👌🏻

As for the shiny side this car got finished off with some of the best products on the market Labocosmetica Uk 😎 a nice purificà wash and topped with benificà along with some Nerò
High gloss tyre gel to make those new wheels POP 😎

Afternoon folks! 👋🏻

Had this wee GR Yaris in a couple of weeks ago for a fully approved Dinitrol UK underbody treatment.

Unfortunately, these wee Yaris’ are becoming a very familiar sight underneath. With very little protection from factory, corrosion can start creeping in surprisingly quickly.

This one needed the rear section of the exhaust removed so I could properly access the affected areas rather than just coating around them.

All visible corrosion was mechanically removed, the remaining areas were properly treated, high-zinc stone chip was applied, and it was finished in Dinitrol’s signature bronze underbody wax. The cavities were also protected to help keep corrosion at bay.

As I’m a certified Dinitrol application centre, the treatment is carried out to the approved process rather than giving it a quick dicht underneath with a power washer and the. simply spraying underseal over whatever is already there.

As per usual after the treatment was complete a good clean up using only the best detailing products on the market! Labocosmetica Uk

Morning folks! Happy Friday!

30+ YEARS sitting derelict… now it’s getting a new lease of life. 🔧😎

This old Hillman engine has been one of my longer-term projects, and what started as a strip-down and refresh quickly turned into a proper engine rebuild.

Once stripped, the cylinder bores were found to be heavily worn and scored. The engine had already been bored +.020” previously, so it was machined again to accept a fresh set of +.040” pistons with a newer design and modern oil control rings from a Honda.

The crankshaft had also been reground previously, but after checking for scoring and measuring the clearances — including with Plastigauge — everything was within tolerance, so fresh bearing shells went in.

The cylinder head was equally tired, requiring new valves, guides and valve seats, along with a cheeky wee skim for a touch more compression.

All the ancillaries and carbs were stripped, ultrasonic cleaned and blasted where required before being rebuilt with new bearings, seals and gaskets.

Finally, the cam cover and air filter housing were refinished in Carib Blue to match the car. 💙

From 30+ years of sitting forgotten to a properly rebuilt wee imp sport engine a nice fast road set up that’ll drive like a standard car with a tiny wee but more poke!
