Knockhill Mod Sports & Super Lap Scotland Round Up 🏁
The weekend started off Friday afternoon following on from Monday’s track night. We were trying a new set of Dunlop tyres but just couldn’t seem to break into the sub-minute laps. In the end I put it down to not being out on track since September last year!
Saturday morning I switched back onto the AO52s and headed out before qualifying. Still struggled a little to get comfortable, only just managing a few 59-second laps 🤔
Qualifying went much better though, securing 1st position. Race 1 got off to a great start and I managed to build a good gap and bring home the win 🏆
Race 2 didn’t go quite so smoothly. I left the door open early on and lost the position. I briefly managed to regain it, but ongoing gearbox issues and really fighting the gear changes meant I just couldn’t attack properly and eventually dropped back.
Race 3 was absolute chaos as the heavens opened and conditions became incredibly sketchy. From the start I made up around 3–4 places before the safety car came out. Unfortunately, with the spray, steamed-up windows and sheer concentration, I completely missed the safety car flags and overtook into 1st position before realising what was going on. Once the race restarted I managed to hold onto 1st for a few laps under huge pressure, but coming off the racing line into the chicane unsettled the car badly. After catching the rear 3 times I eventually ended up on the grass and into the gravel.
After watching nearly the whole field go past, I managed to get back on track and fight back several places before the race was red flagged. I still finished 1st in class, although points were deducted due to the safety car incident.
Super Lap Scotland went perfectly though — 1st in qualifying and 1st in the final with a 58.5 lap time 💪 I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better weekend overall. The car never let me down once again… apart from the alternator bolt deciding to fall out somewhere on track 😂 Easy fix thankfully!
