Here is my latest completed bike project. A 1993 Suzuki DR650 RSE. This one was in pretty good condition when I bought it with only 19,800 km on the clocks, although it required a few plastic repairs and a full service including carb and brake caliper rebuild. This one will probably end up for sale as I have two more of these waiting for a bit of attention (one of which is planned to become a Paris-Dakar tribute bike).

So it's time for an update with another completed project. This time it's a 1980 Yamaha XT250. Bought locally in Toulouse a few years ago this bike was virtually finished around a year ago. Then I found out that the forks were bent so I got Philpotts in Luton to straighten them while on a trip back to the UK a month or so ago.

Although the bike ran when I bought it it has had plenty done including refreshed engine top end, full strip down, frame painted, bolts / spindles / etc. re zinced, new tyres, seat recovered, lots of new bits and bobs from Yambits, etc. I did have the tank and sidepanels professionally painted but did all of the other paint myself including mudguards.

Really please with how it turned out. I always liked the look of these back in the day.

These are the pages from Which Bike? that impressed me.

So after a bit of quiet time on the purchasing front I have just added another bike to the fleet. To say that this is a dream bike of my youth would be about right.

The GSX1100ET was actually featured in the 2nd ever bike magazine I bought (Which Bike? August 1980) as an impressionable 16 year old dreaming of owning a Yam Fizzie. I still have the original 41 year old magazine and have included a couple of pages from it along with a photo of the bike.

Apart from the exhaust it's in very original condition although it's in the wrong colours for me and will be turning red when the restoration begins. That restoration may be a way off as I have a few projects to complete before this one.

I'm really looking forward to riding this one in the not too distant.

Not particularly current but I just found this photo of my old 2001 TM250E. This was the bike that I rode for most of my Hare and Hounds Enduro riding back in the UK. Lots of nice bits on it as standard and as fast as hell.

Here's another one of my bikes. This one is a '91 XTZ750 Super Ténéré. I've had it for a couple of years now. I bought it in it's current condition although it had engine damage (some numpty not changing the oil often enough) so I have now fitted a TDM850 engine. I do plan to rebuild the original engine and put it back to a 'matching numbers' 750 . I think this one will eventually be sold on as I do have another Super Ten and think i will end up making a TDM850 engined special.

So while I'm in the mood for typing I thought I would post a couple of photos of my latest restoration. It's another XT600 Tenere would you believe. This one is the 1989 3AJ model wirth electric start. I think this one may well also be a 'Keeper'. After buying it around 4 years ago it has sat waiting patiently for my attention. It never needed that much doing but it has had - new silencer, partial respray, new tyres, new fuel pump, full engine and carb service, fork oil change, etc. I've actually got this one finished as I want to do some adventure riding this year around France and Spain and this bike seems ideal. It has only done 21,000 km so should still have plenty of life left in it yet. I've taken it for it's maiden off-road excursion and have to say for a relatively big bike it did remarkably well.

So it's been 4 years since I last added any bikes onto my site. Crikey. That's not because I haven't been busy with bikes. During that time plenty of bikes have come and gone but I have gained a few 'keepers'. This post is for one of them. It's a 1981 DT125MX. I bought this bike near Montpellier after someone had decided to turn it into a 'Bobber' of all things. Standard Bobber mods - different tank, saddle seat(!), brown handlebar grips, everything else black. Yuk. Anyway I saw that beneath all the horror the important bits were very original and unmolested. The bike only had 12,000 km on the clock and was still on it's original tyres would you believe. Luckily I got most of the standard parts with it. Proud to say that I did all of the work myself including paintwork and seat cover. Lovely Bike.

Watch out for some more bikes in the very near future.

Here's another bike that I have had kicking around for a few years. It 's a French registered GPZ1000RX. Still restricted to 108 bhp via the carb tops. I finally had to face up to the fact that it was a project that I was never going to complete. It sold on ebay UK to a guy who used to have one in the 80's.

As you may have noticed I really like original 80's and 90's big trail bikes. This is another XT600 Tenere 3AJ. Although this is a bit of a project it is in nice original condition. Just needs a good service, consumables and the bodywork sorting out a little.

This one is currently on ebay UK but only for another 4 days or so.
