⚠️ YACHTING WEATHER ADVISORY — TUESDAY 20 OCTOBER
Antibes & surrounding Côte d’Azur coastline
Owners and crew should prepare for strong winds, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with particular attention to yachts in exposed marina berths.
🌬️ The supplied Antibes forecast indicates winds reaching approximately 29 knots (54 km/h), with gusts potentially reaching 43 knots (80 km/h) during the afternoon.
🌊 Wave forecasts near Antibes show approximately 1.7–1.9 metres from the east to southeast during the afternoon and evening. These are coastal sea conditions, not wave heights inside marinas; movement within each port will depend on its shelter and exposure.
⛈️ Heavy rain and thunderstorms may bring sudden gusts, reduced visibility and local flooding.
Being inside a marina does not eliminate the risk. Exposed berths and areas near harbour entrances may experience increased surge, snatching lines and movement between neighbouring vessels.
Before conditions deteriorate:
• Check mooring lines, springs, attachment points and chafe protection. Add suitable backup lines where needed, allowing for vessel movement.
• Adjust fenders for contact with neighbouring boats and the quay.
• Check stern clearance and secure passerelles.
• Stow loose cushions and deck equipment; secure covers, biminis, tenders and furled sails.
• Clear cockpit and deck drains, and check bilge pumps, float switches and battery condition.
• If your yacht is unattended, arrange a check with your guardianage provider or marina team while access remains safe.
Avoid unnecessary trips to sea and exposed pontoons during the worst conditions. Discuss any berth concerns with the harbour office early, and continue monitoring updated forecasts and port instructions.
