Parking on the Faroe Islands includes parking zones that are time restricted during specific hours.
The blue P sign marks normal parking with no limits.
The blue P sign with "Sona" added means that the parking is time restricted during specific hours.
The restrictions are specified with the allowed parking time: "30 min.", "1 tíma", "2 tímar" etc. ("tímar" means hours).
Following the parking time, you will see the timeframe for the restriction: Example: "8 - 17" means 8AM to 6PM.
Your car is equipped with a parking disc that you use to mark the time you parked the car. If you forget to set the disc, you risk a fine for illegal parking. Some cars have electronic parking discs where the time is set when you stop the car engine.
