Nature really does reveal itself in its rawest and most authentic form during the Nordic winter. This was captured last year in Northern Finland, above Rovaniemi, the capital of Christmas.
And right now is a fantastic time to experience the Northern Lights yourself, the nights are getting darker, and the aurora season in the north is right around the corner if not already here. ✨
Best places to view the Northern Lights:
📍 Finnish Lapland — Rovaniemi, Levi, Ylläs & Saariselkä
📍 Abisko, Sweden
📍 Tromsø & the Lofoten Islands, Norway
📍 Iceland
A few tips before heading up north:
dress warmer than you think you’ll need to: proper layers, warm boots, gloves and a good hat make all the difference when you’re standing outside waiting for the sky to light up.
And if you want the freedom to chase clear skies instead of hoping for the perfect night in one place, renting a campervan is one of my favorite ways to explore the north. Follow the forecast, find a quiet spot away from city lights, make something warm to drink and wait for the show to begin.
No photo or video ever quite captures what it feels like to stand beneath them✨
