Engine building is more than just bolting parts together. It's all about measurements, mathematics, and precision.

In this case, a Star Racing .680" camshaft gets paired with Jims USA rocker arms featuring a 1.745:1 ratio.
The original .680" valve lift increases to an impressive .730" (18.55 mm)

More lift means more things to check! Valve spring coil bind clearance, piston-to-valve clearance, and all other critical measurements must be verified before final assembly.
Measure twice, assemble once!

Buell Lightning Cylinder Head Repair.

These heads need new valves and some precision machine work.
First step: a thorough cleaning and checking the valve guide clearances. If the guides are within spec, we're good to move forward.
I'll be using KPMI valves, custom-machined to fit this engine.
Precision machining, proper measurements, and no shortcuts.

One reason for excessive blow-by? Too much ring-to-groove clearance.

When the ring has too much room to dance in the groove, it can flutter instead of sealing properly against the cylinder wall.
Loose rings don’t seal. Combustion pressure finds the way out.
Measure it. Machine it right.
Guessing belongs somewhere else.
