First time in Tenerife. And I think they did it right.

Alberto and his wife came to Tenerife for the very first time.

They rented a Mustang GT, set off to explore the island, and Alberto sent me this photo.

And there’s something I really like about it.

When you visit a place for the first time, there are moments you don’t realise you’ll remember.

A road.

An unplanned stop.

Mount Teide right in front of you.

And that thought:

“How can a place like this even exist?”

The car helps, of course.

But years from now, they probably won’t remember how many miles they drove.

They’ll remember how they felt.

And that’s the beautiful thing about travelling.

It’s not about collecting places.

It’s about collecting moments.

Look.

Most people are terrified of fire.

They see smoke and flinch. They see a single spark and rush to dial 911.

Fair enough. To each their own.

I’m telling you this because of what our partners at USA AUTO pulled off at the American Spirit - American Car & Bike Fans Meet.

They lined up their Dodge Challenger Hellcat on the burnout pad, pinned the throttle flat to the floor, and didn't lift until the tires blew and the pavement literally caught fire under the chassis.

Literally. Raw flames licking the tarmac.

First, a blinding cloud of white smoke. Then, fire. And finally, the first-place trophy.

They won the burnout contest.

Period.

A lot of people confuse competitiveness and the pursuit of perfection with wearing a tie and babbling corporate buzzwords that nobody gives a damn about.

They don't have a clue.

Perfection is refusing to tolerate mediocrity. It’s demanding the exact same savagery from the machine that you demand from yourself every single morning.

Yesterday, I saw a guy with a €20,000 watch get into a boring, white rental car.

His entire image of status? Trashed in three seconds.

Paying a fortune for a luxury suite in Tenerife and then driving a generic box on your vacation... it’s absurd.

If you’re coming to the islands to enjoy yourself, do it right.

This Ferrari California T just rolled into my garage.

Forget about horsepower or 0-to-60 times. None of that matters here.

What matters is dropping the top.
The roar of the V8.
The absolute certainty that you’re playing in a different league.

Going from point A to point B is something you can do with any cheap rental at the airport.

Driving this is a statement.
