1. Battery check
Once the mobility scooter or powered wheelchair is inside the workshop we will carry out a full discharge test on the batteries, which gives us a printed read-out of how they are performing. Most mobility scooters and powerchairs will require a new set of batteries every 2-3 years due to general “wear and tear”, however sometimes they can last much longer if looked after properly (regular charging & stored in dry, warm conditions). We have known batteries last 5-7 years and in some cases even longer.
2 tyres and pressure
Under-inflated tyres on a mobility scooter can cause all sorts of problems, the main one being drastically decreased range and increased strain on the batteries and motors. This is easily the most common problem we see at world of mobility, and is something that surprisingly people don’t often think about on scooters (unlike cars!). It only takes a couple of minutes for us to put right and can make all the difference to your ride! Many scooters nowadays feature solid puncture proof tyres as standard, however it is always worth checking anyway. We will do a full check on your tyre pressures and top them up to the manufacturers specification if required
3 steering and suspension and all moving parts
As you can imagine, in the time between services there is a lot of strain put on the steering and suspension systems of any mobility scooter. We will check all parts systematically and oil, lubricate and replace any parts where required
4 motors and bushes
One of the most important parts of the service is checking the motor brushes. These are located inside the motor itself and can be replaced if worn down, giving you years more life in your scooter. Many people replace their scooter thinking it is broken when in fact the brushes just need changing, so why not let us take a look for you
