This space is a convertible bed which turns into the living area. The bed is a large 183x140 mattress and can comfortably sleep 2 adults and a child. We have also installed a projector, since we all know, even on holidays, it’s nice to just Netflix & Chill. For those who are more into reading, there is two individual reading lamps with USB ports installed above the headboard .
The bed turns into two sofas and a large spinning table. It might take you a few minutes to get the hang of it and it’s easier to convert the table into the bed with two people, but perfectly doable by yourself. We have previously built a van with a fixed bed, but we felt that having the versatility of a large living area as well as a large bed, is the best of both worlds, even if takes you a few minutes to set it up, this is part of the vanlife experience.
This area can be accessed from the kitchen as well as from the back of the van. There is storage both above the bed and below to store all your belongings.
We have incorporated a skylight above the bed to help with ventilation. Even though there is no air conditioning , installing 3 skylights allows for a refreshing breeze to cool you off in summer months .
If you are planning a winter getaway, there is nothing worse that a freezing cold van. This is why we have invested into a 2kW diesel heater, which will keep the cabin warm and cosy for your winter stay.
