Max Verstappen was left disappointed after qualifying at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort, where he could manage only seventh place, despite Red Bull making significant setup changes to his car in an attempt to improve its performance.
Verstappen also revealed that he has not been feeling well during the race weekend, describing his condition as being similar to having the flu. However, he explained that his health did not have a major impact on his performance once he was behind the wheel.
After a difficult Friday, Red Bull made major adjustments to the setup of Verstappen’s car, hoping to find a better balance and improve its overall performance. However, the changes failed to deliver the expected improvement.
Verstappen admitted that although the team had changed a lot, the feeling of the car remained almost the same. The Dutchman was unable to find the confidence and speed needed to challenge the front runners.
Heavy rain later arrived at Zandvoort, raising hopes that changing conditions could play into Verstappen’s strengths. Nevertheless, the Red Bull driver remained realistic about his chances, pointing to the team’s main problem: lack of pace.
With Verstappen starting the race from seventh on the fourth row, Red Bull faces a difficult challenge as it continues to search for the performance needed to fight at the front.
