116 new bulletins and 152 updates of existing bulletins have just been released for the program.
Winter is approaching, and that means wheel change and can mean challenges with tyres and TPMS reset.

One of the new bulletins is a guide to precautions regarding tyre change in cars with 4WD.
A challenge that takes some people by surprise is the relatively big difference in the rolling diameter of the tyre, if the same tyre size is used from 2 different tyre manufacturers.
See example in bulletin No. 8419.

TPMS can also be a challenge, both if you need to reset, but also if you need to program new tyre pressure sensors.
Performing a TPMS reset is fortunately a simple procedure in many models. Special procedures can be found in AutoFrontal under the category TPMS.

Attached new bulletin on Hyundai Ioniq as well as bulletin on Jaguar/Land Rover with discharge which occurred after a diagnostic tester was fitted.

Fiat 500C. Boot lid cannot open.

This is an old TSB, but still relevant.
Recently, our hotline was contacted by a workshop who asked for advice on what might be wrong.
The boot lid could not open. Switch to boot lid opening, electric motor to boot lid opening and BSM had been replaced. Wires had been checked. So, what might be the fault?
Fortunately, this was a known issue for our Fiat technician in the AutoFrontal hotline.
He referred the workshop to this bulletin, which solved the problem.
The cause was that the folding roof had to be learned. After that, the boot lid could be opened.
There are more ways of finding a bulletin like this in AutoFrontal.
We recommend to always start by reading out fault codes for the car. In this case: B106192 - RCU Moveable Roof Control Module - Performance or Incorrect and/or U020786 - Moveable Roof Control Unit (RCU) - Signal invalid
Select the car in AutoFrontal and then go to the Bulletins tab and enter the fault code here.
Then, only bulletins that match the selected car will appear.
If there is no fault code, use a search word or select a category or symptom as seen in the attached examples.
This TSB is downloaded 1010 times.

More than 200 new bulletins were released last night, and even more updates of existing bulletins.
Several of the new bulletins are made on the basis of tips or feedback from you via our hotline.
Here is an example of a bulletin, which is based on a hotline case.
Please note that the fault was very intermittent and thus difficult to measure at the workshop.

Volkswagen with DSG will not start, message in instrument that you need to set gearshift lever in P/N, stores fault code P085000. During this week there will be a big upload with many new bulletins. Here is one of them. Thanks to a friendly feedback from a Hotline case and some experience from previous hotline cases. It is actually very difficult to find any good information about the purpose of the wire that the error code is referring to. You might think that the fault is due to the usual switch on the gear selector, but this is not the case. On page 2 we show an example where the fault should be found inside the engine control unit.

We are curious to know on which of the cars you need to use a diagnostic tool to fill the A/C refrigerant (open the valves).
So please share if you know of other models than Volkswagen group and BMW.
Also please share if you have experience with the consequences if you fill the system without opening the valves using a diagnostic tool.
We would also like to know your experiences with models where you don’t need a diagnostic tool to fill the refrigerant. Such as PSA and Renault.
A database with this would come in handy in our program.

Workshop avoids a cost of more than 800 Euro.
Renault Kadjar 1.5 dCi 2017 stores fault codes for the battery sensor.
We have just produced TSB No. 8000 and have on this occasion attached a case with the background for this TSB.

The Elektro Partner team would like to say thank you very much to all our customers.
2020 presented many challenges, but as a company we have focused on the development of all our products and not least AutoFrontal, which is now used in several countries, also outside the EU.
2020 is the year for the biggest number of tips received from garages. Most often, there is a long and intriguing explanation for how a garage spent hours of troubleshooting because they started troubleshooting in the “wrong” end due to e.g. an intermittent fault. After the task was solved, as a mechanic you would think: If I encounter the fault again in this type of car, I can rapidly find the fault if only I start my diagnostic test “in the right place”.
Our hotline has been busy all year and has had more than 48,000 cases this year.
We look forward to starting 2021 with you, a year that without a doubt will offer exciting initiatives.

What can make the adaptive cruise control (ACC) deactivate unintentionally?
This is about a fault that may cost the garage several work hours, if you do not have the specific product knowledge, about how the system works and not least how to handle the system in case of a fault.
The example is from our hotline regarding an Audi A6 (4G) model year 2013:

How on earth was I supposed to know?
Volkswagen e-Golf heat pump:
In our hotline, we recently had a good example of a task that only few garages would be able to solve without the right information available.
The customer complaint was that the climate control system was not working correctly, - there were problems regarding both cooling and heating.
The garage had read out fault code: P1C6000 - Refrigerant/-Temperature Sensor 3 No Signal
This should prove to present several challenges:
1. The system had 5 pressure sensors, so where was sensor 3 located?
2. After the sensor was replaced, the car had even more fault codes and now also for some of the other pressure/temperature sensors. This was caused by the fact that several of the sensors use Linbus on the same wire and they must therefore be “auto-addressed” via diagnostic tool.
3. However, auto-addressing via diagnostic tool could not be carried out at first. The cause was that the factory had fitted a type of sensor that could not be auto-addressed again. A new type of sensor has now been made where it is possible to carry out the auto-addressing BUT! it entails that all sensors on the same LINBUS must be replaced before the auto-addressing can be carried out. So, the garage had to replace all remaining sensors on this Linbus circuit.

Spare parts purchased on the internet

Last week, we had a case in our hotline about a Volkswagen Amarok 2.0 TDI 163 hp model year 2011, which did not go according to plan and which is a situation that most garages may find themselves in.
Symptoms: The engine enters limp-home mode and intermittently poor engine operation, fault code P0234 overboost is stored (often at full acceleration above 4000 rpm).
In cooperation with our hotline, the troubleshooting is directed towards the turbocharger, which is the biturbo type.
After prolonged troubleshooting, the biturbo charger is found to be the cause of the fault.
The garage learns that a new OE biturbo charger costs approx. 20,000 Danish kroner + VAT. It is no fun for the garage to present bad news like these to the owner of the car, and it is often at times like these that you in sympathy with the customer can be tempted to help find a cheaper solution.
This garage did so, and fitted a turbocharger purchased from an unknown supplier found on the internet.
After a time-consuming fitting of the newly purchased biturbo, a new problem occurred during the first road test. Now the symptom was:
No engine power and fault code P0299 stored.
So, the hotline case rolls on, and starts in fact all over again.
Finally, it turned out that basic setting of the turbocharger had not been carried out mechanically correctly during production. What a frustrating case for the garage, because now they had several hours that could not be invoiced, a paid biturbo charger that could not be used and a large task ahead of them with replacement of biturbo charger again! And they now had to purchase a new turbocharger from a more reliable supplier.
As we often receive inquiries concerning diagnostic test of this turbocharger, we have made a specific measuring method for this turbocharger that can be read on www.AutoFrontal.com bulletin No. 5280.
