This World Environment Day, we’re celebrating more than a decade of cleaner stops. 🌍✨

At Textar, engineering for performance goes hand-in-hand with protecting the planet. Global regulations now restrict copper content in friction materials to a strict 0.5%, but Textar achieved this milestone years ahead of the industry.

In fact, we first began producing 100% copper-free brake pads in 2013. Today, 95% of Textar brake pads are copper and - and antimony-free - even in regions where it's not legally required.

By removing copper from our formulations, we prevent harmful microparticles from entering waterways and soil. Every stop you make actively has a lower impact the surrounding environment.

🏎 European summer is calling! 🇪🇺 As we move into June, the 2026 season shifts gears from the glamour of the Riviera to the high-speed challenges of the Styrian mountains. This month is a true test of versatility, pushing both driver stamina and brake cooling to the absolute limit.

Here is your Textar Track Guide for June 2026:

🇲🇨 June 5–7: Monaco Grand Prix (Monte Carlo) The crown jewel of motorsport, where precision is the only currency and the walls are unforgiving.

The Braking Fact: In Monaco, it’s not about raw power, it’s about ventilation. Drivers are on the brakes for approximately 21% of the lap. Without long straights to provide airflow, brake temperatures can skyrocket. The heavy braking into the Nouvelle Chicane after the tunnel is the only real overtaking opportunity, requiring perfect "bite" to avoid the harbor!

🇪🇸 June 12–14: Barcelona Grand Prix (Catalunya) A technical benchmark circuit that exposes every strength and weakness of an F1 car’s setup.

The Braking Fact: While known for its sweeping curves, Turn 10 remains the ultimate stopping test. Single-seaters must decelerate from 310 km/h to 106 km/h in just 2.46 seconds. Drivers endure a peak deceleration of 4g while exerting over 130 kg of force on the pedal—a masterclass in high-pressure performance.

🇦🇹 June 26–28: Austrian Grand Prix (Spielberg) A short, sharp rollercoaster ride with the fewest corners on the calendar but some of its steepest challenges.

The Braking Fact: Don't let the short lap fool you; the Red Bull Ring is a brake-killer. Turn 4 is a notorious downhill braking zone where it is incredibly easy to lock a front wheel and skip into the gravel. Stability here is the difference between a podium finish and a frustrating afternoon in the Styrian hills.

“New disc installed — but it wobbles!” may seem minor — but it’s one of the fastest ways to invite serious judder issues with the brake discs.

Should I grease shims or backing plates? NEVER.

Modern brake pads are engineered with more sophistication than many technicians realise. Anti-noise shims are a precision-engineered component — and applying grease to them defeats their entire purpose.

HOW ANTI-NOISE SHIMS WORK
Anti-noise shims are bonded to the rear of brake pads to absorb vibration between the pad and caliper. They act as a damping layer, preventing the high-frequency resonance that causes brake squeal. To work correctly, they must remain clean, dry and securely in place.

WHAT GREASE DOES TO THEM
• Interferes with the engineered damping properties
• Reduces the shim’s ability to isolate vibration
• Can cause the shim to slip, detach or deform under heat
• Increases risk of the shim migrating out of position, causing noise, uneven braking or reduced pad stability

The same applies to the backing plate and rubber shim components. Grease in these areas can cause brake drag, increased NVH and damage to rubber components within the system.

Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Each lubricant is formulated for specific materials and contact points — and correct application is essential for performance, safety and warranty compliance.
