Neander Motors is a cutting edge outboard engine developer and manufacturer. We used state of the art software and processes to develop the turbo diesel 50 hp Dtorque outboard, which with its double crankshaft has been a success in terms of reliability and efficiency since it went into serial production back in 2018. The end users of the Dtorque are commercial operators in the oil & gas, cruise sh

ip, super yacht, harbour patrol, fish farming and tourist industries and therefore rely on being able to use their boats uninterrupted on a daily basis. While we are encouraged by the success of the Dtorque so far, customers seem to be pleasantly surprised by its quietness, low fuel performance and its 111 Nm of torque, we are excited to continue investing in R&D to offer new solutions to an industry we believe will not just continue growing but will evolve more in the following 10 years than it has done in the past 30.

Designed for real working days on the water.
This Dtorque 50 hp installation on a Highfield Classic 460 highlights how a diesel outboard performs in everyday professional use – where control, balance and predictability matter more than headline numbers.

In this configuration, the vessel reached speeds of up to 25 knots, while maintaining calm and controlled handling.

Many thanks to DPower for sharing the vessel data and test insights that made this overview possible.

Real-world insights go deeper than any sea trial.

After sharing Michael’s first impressions from their run between Kilkieran Bay and Galway Harbour, we received several direct questions about the technical background of the test, particularly about the TS6400 HDPE workboat used during the trial.

The vessel is based on the TS6400 Standard Line, fitted with two features tailored to the customer’s operations:
a forward push bow and a centrally positioned jockey-style helm.

To add a bit more context, we checked back in with Michael O Ceallachain from Muir Gheal Aquaculture and his words say everything: “Once you get used to the setup, the engine really finds its rhythm. The quietness helps on long days, the fuel burn is steady, and even in a Force 6 westerly swell the boat stayed controllable. For a 50 hp diesel, that’s impressive.”

For everyone who asked about the technical side: Below you’ll find the key specifications and the recorded performance data
as documented by Michael’s team.
A big thank you to Michael and his crew for sharing their experience so openly.

METSTRADE 2025 — what a week.
From early-morning coffees to late-day deep dives, this year’s show reminded us once again why we do what we do: for the people who rely on our engines, and for the partners who bring the Dtorque into real operations around the world.

A huge thank you to our amazing partners for your support, your time and the many inspiring conversations at our booth: De Wolf • DPower • GY Marine • Ozsay • Power Equipment • Seascape Marine • SV Servizi.

Your expertise, insights and energy make all the difference – and your commitment helps carry the Dtorque into new waters, new markets and new missions every single year.

We’re heading home with new ideas, strengthened relationships and a lot of excitement for what’s coming next.

And just a small behind-the-scenes note:
Left to right in the picture: Tom, Pedro and Goran from Opteam chatting about new ways to bring high-quality real-time 3D into the browser.

See you at METSTRADE 2026 — already looking forward to it!

From diving teams operating in extreme heat, to fish farmers battling rough seas, to crews transporting scientists, workers and passengers across the water... the Dtorque has travelled far because you took it there.

Every engine we deliver carries more than engineering – it carries the stories of the people who rely on it.

And as Neander Marine continues to grow around the world, it felt like the right moment for our identity to grow as well – to give your Dtorque a look that reflects who we’ve become together: Confident. Recognisable. United under one global identity.

What’s new:

🔹 A bolder Neander Marine identity – unmistakably global
🔹 Clearer 50 hp recognition where it matters most — on the water
🔹 The Dtorque name remaining part of our heritage and product family
🔹 Unchanged engineering & reliability – the performance operators trust every day

This update isn’t just visual – it reflects a shared journey shaped by the people who put this engine to work in the world’s most demanding environments.

To all our partners around the globe: thank you for taking the Dtorque farther than we ever imagined.

👉 We’d love to hear how the new look resonates with you and your markets.

Real-world testing from our partner Muir Gheal Aqua in Ireland

Sometimes the best feedback comes straight from the water, not from the lab.
Our partner Muir Gheal Aqua recently powered their TS6400 HDPE workboat with a single Neander Dtorque 50 hp and took it for a sea trial from Kilkieran Bay to Galway Harbour (32.5 NM).

Michael summed it up perfectly:
“The Dtorque performs really well in this setup, bringing the boat onto plane at around 3200 RPM. It runs quietly and smoothly across the power band, and the fuel efficiency is impressive: around 8 L/h at 15 knots. Even in a Force 6 westerly swell, the Dtorque handled the vessel confidently throughout the test.”

When your job depends on reliability – and regulations get tighter.

Working on the water means working with pressure:
Long hours. Harsh conditions. Rising demands for cleaner operations.

The Dtorque 50 makes life easier, cleaner, and greener.
It runs with up to 40% less fuel, meets EU RCD Stage II standards, and opens doors to low-emission zones – where others may face restrictions.

A practical solution for those who keep things running:
Rescue crews. Fish farmers. Engineers. Captains. Technicians.
From oil & gas to offshore wind – from tenders to tools of survival.

Because your engine should be the last thing you have to worry about.

Built for the mission. Trusted by forces.

When operations get tough, the Neander Dtorque 50 makes things simple:

✅ Full compliance with NATO’s single fuel policy
✅ One fuel on board – diesel only
✅ Refuel easily at any marina, anywhere
✅ Rugged, reliable and purpose-built for military & governmental missions

Because when failure is not an option – you need an outboard that delivers.
