The CAE Ultra Shifter for the Honda Civic Type R FL5
is finally here and ready to order. We‘re here to answer all your questions. Let‘s go!
1. What took us so long?
Whenever we develop a shifter for a new platform, it has to be perfect before we release it, and perfection takes time. But in the end we‘re happy to report that the final product is worth every single hour of its development time. Even we were blown away by the ultra precise feeling you get going through the gears with our latest creation and you will surely feel same way from the first gear change on.
2. Does the CAE Ultra Shifter for the FL5 work with the OEM gear change cables?
Yes, our CAE Ultra Shifter works with the OEM gear shift cables!
3. Do the OEM gear shift cables need to be cut in order to install the CAE Ultra Shifter?
No! Unlike in the FK8 Type R, the OEM gear shift cables do not need to be cut or modified! Our CAE Ultra Shifter works perfectly with the stock OEM gear shift cables, they only need to be rotated as seen in our detailed installation manual which you can download on our website. You can easily remove the CAE Ultra Shifter and go back to the stock setup an no one could tell, eventhough you‘re not going to want to go back ever again.
4. Do any interior pieces need to be modified or cut?
No, you don‘t need to cut or modifiy anything in order to install and run our CAE Ultra Shifter. Only if you want to run the stock shift boot, you have to trim one tiny corner on the underside of the OEM shift boot (as seen in the video) and that‘s it.
5. Are there going to be original CAE center console covers for when you don‘t want to run the OEM boot or have the shifter exposed?
Yes, we‘re on it at we‘ll keep you guys posted.
6. When can the CAE Ultra Shifter be ordered?
You can already order the FL5 Shifter, deliveries will start in approx. 6 to 8 weeks and we‘ll ship worldwide as always.
