Here’s why you should never ignore ball joints and bushings;-
Your vehicle's ball joints act as the pivotal connection between your wheels and the suspension. They support the entire weight of your car, allowing your wheels to pivot for steering and bounce over bumps.
If a ball joint snaps while driving, the control arm drops, the wheel folds underneath the fender, and you lose all steering control instantly.
A persistent, metallic clunk or knocking sound when turning the steering wheel or rolling over uneven pavement is a sign of fault.
Bushings are heavy-duty rubber or polyurethane cushions inserted into the joints of your control arms. They act as shock absorbers, isolating the steel chassis of your car from the aggressive vibrations of the road and keeping your wheels firmly aligned.
When bushings degrade, they cause severe, uneven tire wear, throw your wheel alignment out of whack, and cause your car to dart uncontrollably to one side. At highway speeds, this destroys your vehicle's ability to safely brake or swerve in an emergency.
A squeaking or creaking sound when the suspension moves, and a vague, loose feeling when steering through corners is a sign that you need to see a mechanic.
Ball joints and bushings rarely fail all at once; they degrade gradually over time due to constant friction, load bearing, and environmental exposure. This progressive wear means early symptoms are highly subtle. Routine maintenance and inspection is key.
