DJ's Towing is now accepting applications for a full time light duty tow truck operator. Applicants can submit their applications by email to [email protected]. Applicants should be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs and be willing to work outdoors. We would prefer applicants that have prior towing experience however we are willing to train the right applicant.

Great advice!

Welp, and just like that, cruise control season is over. Back by popular demand, our helpful winter driving tips.

By now, you might have forgotten how to drive in the snow. Have no fear, for we've compiled some winter driving safety tips for you.

1. It's snow, DON'T LOSE YOUR MINDS!!!

TURN ON YOUR HEADLIGHTS!!!

2. Two inches of snow is just as slippery as two feet of snow. You're gonna have to slow down and increase your stopping distance.

3. Like coloring, it's important to stay between the lines.

4. Just like middle school, no PDA. NO TOUCHING ALLOWED!!! Cars are forbidden from touching each other.

TURN ON YOUR HEADLIGHTS!!!

5. In case you forgot, ditches still be loving cars. If you have questions, see #3.

6. 4 wheel drive doesn't equal 4 wheel stop.

7. All wheel drive or 4 wheel drive doesn't make your suburatank invincible or give you the right to drive like a jackwagon. Just, no.

The City of Yellowknife would like to advise residents that Snow Removal will begin for the following areas at midnight (12:00 AM) on the dates listed below:

[Wednesday, December 22]
Franklin Avenue from 52 Street to 48 Street; and
50 Street from 49 Avenue to 52 Avenue.

[Thursday, December 23]
53 Street from Franklin Avenue to 49 Avenue; and
49 Avenue from 53 Street to 47 Street; and
52 Street from Franklin Avenue to 52 Avenue.

[Friday, December 24]
Franklin Avenue from 48 Street to 43 Street; and
51 Street from 49 Avenue to 52 Avenue.

Residents must ensure parked vehicles are removed from these streets by midnight or they will be removed (towed). Residents are advised that there will be traffic delays in snow removal areas and if possible, to use an alternate route to avoid delays. The City asks residents to ensure Curbside Carts are returned to your property prior to the scheduled snow removal on your street. The City thanks you for your patience and reminds residents to use caution in snow removal areas and not pass moving equipment.

In Yellowknife, agencies providing emergency services gathered for a photo to remind you to stay safe this holiday season. Make wise choices so you are not transported by our emergency vehicles. Make a plan to drive sober or arrange for a ride home.
