Connell Park, one of Canada's true gems of a half-mile track, will see its first action of 2023 in Woodstock on Saturday, June 3.
Horse Racing New Brunswick will host the prestigious Dawn & Ted Bremner Stakes. Named in honour of the two pioneers and ambassadors of racing for years in New Brunswick, the card has attracted some of the Maritimes' best and fastest three-year-olds.
Situated in the heart of Woodstock, Connell Park Raceway's fair-like atmosphere makes this track feel so special.
Many people responsible for putting together the card behind the scenes are volunteers and work diligently to ensure every race card is memorable. In the past, the track only hosted racing once or twice yearly, but this year it could see as many as 10 race days with the closure of Exhibition Park Raceway.
Horse Racing New Brunswick pivoted to hold racing in either Fredericton or Woodstock. While Fredericton made more sense geographically, it also faced an uncertain future for racing with redevelopment plans at the track's location in the works.
Horse Racing New Brunswick then looked at Woodstock as its home for 2023 and hopefully beyond.
The post time for Saturday, June 3, is 1 p.m.
The draw for Saturday's race card is Wednesday, May 31. We will take an in-depth look at the race card after the draw to offer a full race preview.
