A message to our East St. Paul community and customers
We recently changed our fuel payment system to pre-payment because, unfortunately, we were experiencing repeated incidents where people would fill up with gas or diesel and leave without paying.
We understand that this change may be inconvenient for our regular and honest customers, and we sincerely apologize for that. We have received 5–7 complaints per day since making the change, and we completely understand the frustration.
However, before this change, we were experiencing approximately 1–2 fuel theft incidents every month, and we were continuously absorbing those losses in order to keep the fueling experience convenient for our good customers.
Unfortunately, the situation recently became much worse.
• August 21: A pickup truck filled over $250 worth of diesel and left without paying.
• August 27: Another vehicle filled up with fuel and left without paying.
• August 31: Another pickup truck took over $200 worth of diesel without paying.
• September 1, around 2:00 AM: The same pickup truck was involved in a break-in at our store, causing damage to our door and theft from the store.
• September 3: Another incident occurred involving over $216 worth of fuel being taken without payment.
• Last month: Two trucks arrived together, filled up with gas, and left without paying.
After dealing with repeated incidents and increasing losses, we unfortunately had no choice but to implement the pre-payment system.
We will upload the photos of the individuals and trucks involved in the recent fuel theft and break in with this post. We are sharing this information so our community can understand why this change was necessary.
We truly appreciate all of our honest, regular customers who have supported us. We know this new system is an inconvenience, and we are sorry that the actions of a small number of people have affected everyone.
We are simply trying to protect our business, our employees, and our ability to continue serving the East St. Paul community.
