🔌 Decoding the Wires: How the Alternator Works

For this heavy-duty powerhouse to function correctly, it relies on a specific set of precise connections. Here is exactly what each wire does:

(B+) Charging Output: This is the main artery. It sends a heavy, steady flow of electrical current to recharge your battery and power the entire vehicle while driving.

(IG) Excitation Signal: Think of this as the power switch. When you turn your ignition key, this wire sends a signal telling the alternator to wake up and start generating electricity.

(L) Indicator Light: Your early warning monitor! This wire connects directly to the red battery icon on your dashboard, lighting up instantly if the charging system fails.

(GND) Ground / Earth: This essential connection completely secures the electrical path by bolting directly to the vehicle's metal chassis, ensuring a stable and safe current flow.
