Over the summer, your dock weathered storms, changing water levels and plenty of weekend gatherings. With winter storage on the horizon, now is a great time to give your dock a once over so you can catch and deal with any issues early.
Here’s our Boat Dock Maintenance Check List for Alberta Boaters:
1. Inspect every section of your dock for loose boards, rusted fasteners, wobbling brackets or damaged bumpers. Replacing broken or warped parts. Performing small fixes now will save you headaches down the line.
2. Check your boat lift for signs of wear. Test and lubricate moving parts to reduce friction.
3. Perform routine cleaning to remove algae and dirt. Ensure you use dock-safe cleaning products and pay special attention to edges where debris can build up.
4. Address bigger problems now. If you notice significant sagging, rusted structural beams or warped supports, it’s time to call a professional to assess the problem and recommend solutions.
