The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is finally getting the camper version many people wanted from the start.

The ID California Cruise turns the electric van into a small home on wheels with a bed, folding table, two chairs, blackout window coverings and a special camping mode. That mode can run the lights, power and climate control while parked, with VW claiming up to 48 hours of continuous heating or cooling on a full battery.

There is also a clever electrochromic glass roof that changes from clear to opaque at the touch of a button.

The first version is headed to Germany, but VW plans a US version for 2027 with a bed.

We're digging the rugged looks on this 2027 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, which is getting a serious upgrade.

Hyundai's next-generation hybrid system combines a 1.6 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine with a new dual motor setup. Total output rises to 241 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, while Hyundai says fuel consumption drops to about 5.7 L/100 km combined.
The new Tucson is also bigger and boxier, with a more rugged look and a roomier interior. It shows Hyundai is putting more focus on hybrid power as competition from the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V heats up.

More power, better fuel economy and a fresh design. That sounds like a pretty useful combination.

Whack it with a hammer!
Toyota's latest V6 recall inspection sounds like something from the garage next door: hit the engine with a tiny hammer.
But there is some serious technology behind it. Technicians use a small plastic hammer to create a controlled vibration in the engine. An accelerometer measures that vibration, and software analyzes the results to check the condition of the No. 1 main bearing.
The issue is linked to debris left behind during manufacturing that can damage the bearing and eventually cause engine failure. Toyota says not every affected engine needs to be replaced, so this test helps determine which ones do.
If a truck is already knocking, running rough, or won't start, Toyota says owners should contact a dealer.
