This weekend, a lot of us will sit down to a full table.

Turkey. Too many sides. Someone going back for thirds. It's easy to forget how much that table means.

A few weeks ago our community filled a food drive at Watkin Motors Ford. Neighbours, customers, the Vernon firefighters. On visited the The Salvation Army - Vernon, BC as he wanted to see where all that food actually goes, so Teresa at the Salvation Army Vernon Food Bank gave us the tour.

He wasn't ready for it.

Walking those aisles got to him. And sitting down to put this video together, he had to stop more than once. Every time he heard Teresa talk about the families, about the empty banana boxes on the racks, about a kid who needs milk, he got choked up all over again.

Every single day, 70 to 105 families walk through their doors. In the old building it was 30. These aren't strangers. They're the person behind you at the grocery store. The family down your street.

And those shelves don't fill themselves. They fill because somebody decided to care.

So this Thanksgiving, while we're grateful for the food on our tables, let's help fill someone else's.

You filled the Raptor for the Salvation Army Vernon Community Food Bank, and the support from this community blew us away. Neighbours, families, local businesses and even kids came by with bags of groceries and essentials.

A BIG shout-out to Vernon Fire Rescue for rolling up to the dealership with a fire truck full of donations. Thank you for everything you do for Vernon, on and off the job.

Now, how much did it all weigh? Guess the total pounds and the closest guess wins a Ford hat and a Watkin Motors water bottle. Guessing closes Monday, October 5 at 9 AM.

Vernon firefighters, neighbours and families filled our F-150 Raptor in the Ford Food Drive. Every donation went to the Vernon Community Food Bank.

When a firetruck pulls up in front of your building, you naturally think something is wrong… but today, it was something pretty special. ❤️

A group of Vernon firefighters, including one who wasn’t even on shift, took time out of their day to go shopping. Not for themselves, but to purchase food and everyday essentials to help fill our Ford Food Drive for the Salvation Army Vernon .

They then showed up at Watkin Motors Ford with their firetruck and a generous donation for our community.

To the Vernon Firefighters, we can’t thank you enough. You spend your days looking after our community, and today you reminded us that caring for people goes far beyond responding to emergencies.

Every single item you donated will stay right here in our community, helping local individuals and families who need a little extra support.

Sometimes it’s the unexpected gestures that remind us just how special Vernon really is.

From all of us at Watkin Motors Ford, thank you for showing up for our community, both on and off duty.

Some moments mean more than words can say.

Four years ago, Anastasiia and her husband, Artem, had to leave their home in Ukraine as the war moved closer to their city.

They spent a year in Germany before getting the opportunity to come to Canada to work and begin another chapter of their lives.

What started as a new place soon became home.

They fell in love with Canada, built a life here, and hoped that one day they would be able to stay and truly put down roots.

But waiting for that answer wasn’t easy.

There were months of uncertainty, sleepless nights, and the constant question of what the future would hold.

Then finally, the news they had been hoping and waiting for arrived.

Their permanent residency was approved.

When we heard the news, we wanted to do something special for Anastasiia and celebrate a moment that meant so much to her and Artem.

We surprised her at work with a small gift, but it was her reaction that made the moment so special.

Anastasiia, we couldn’t be happier for you and Artem. You’re more than a member of our team — you’re part of the Watkin Motors Ford family.

After everything it took to get here, we’re so happy that the place you chose to call home can continue to be home.
