This week, our Training Development Manager, Rob (.gargaro) , had the opportunity to participate as a judge at the Skills Ontario Competition, where students showcased their hands-on collision repair skills through a series of technical challenges and repair procedures.
The day began with an orientation led by , where students received an overview of the competition, expectations, and safety procedures before moving into the hands-on portion of the event.
Throughout the competition, students demonstrated a variety of industry skills including plug welding, stitch welding, bonding procedures, dent repair techniques, lower quarter panel sectioning, and the use of 3D measuring systems. Competitors were challenged to apply precision, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills in a real-world style environment.
As a judge, Rob evaluated student work throughout the event, focusing on repair quality, technique, accuracy, and overall ex*****on during the sectioning and welding procedures.
“It was great seeing students so engaged and motivated throughout the competition. Events like this are incredibly important because they give future technicians the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in a hands-on environment while building confidence and industry experience.”
A huge thank you to for having Rob participate as a judge and for continuing to create opportunities that support and encourage the next generation of skilled trades professionals.
