Job description

Wilf's Transmissions is looking for a skilled Automotive Technician to maintain and repair vehicles. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them. You will be well-versed in complex mechanical or electronic systems of vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities. Responsibilities

* Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately

* Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade

* Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity

* Recommend scheduling future maintenance sessions and advise on good vehicle use

* Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)

* Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job

* Keep logs on work and issues
Maintain equipment and tools in good condition

Requirements

* Proven experience as an auto mechanic

* Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles

* Certification from a vocational school or enrolment/completion of an apprenticeship program

* Excellent communication skills.

* Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods

* Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)

* Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals, etc.

* Excellent physical condition

* High school diploma is preferred

Wilf's Transmissions is looking for an experienced Automotive Service Advisor. You will be involved with all stages of our customer's journey. You will be well-versed in the mechanical or electronic systems of vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate will benefit from a broad experience with all makes and models. If you are interested in joining a great company to work for, we'd like to meet you.

Responsibilities

* Handle customers inquiries promptly and accurately

* Write repair orders, ensuring all paperwork is legibly and accurately completed, with all customer requests or points of concern documented.

* Review all repairs and changes with the customer upon delivery of their vehicle.

* Assist in scheduling customer vehicles for service work by allowing adequate time for repairs/maintenance and securing additional time as required.

* Monitor work-in-progress to ensure that repairs are being performed properly and the time schedule is being met as promised.

* Notify customers if delays are expected or additional work is needed.

* Use service files to suggest additional repairs or services if required.

* Arrange for alternate transportation as needed and manage loaner vehicles.

* Maintain paperwork and ensure the reception area is in a clean and orderly fashion.

* Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

* Knowledge of automotive equipment.

* Knowledge of techniques regarding customer satisfaction and retention.

* Ability to maintain records and prepare reports using a computerized equipment and maintenance system.

* Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of the organization.

* Ability to communicate with others, assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.

* Critical thinking skills.

* Ability to operate assigned software and electronic equipment.

* Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.

* A valid British Columbia driver’s licence, with a clean driving record.
