The beginning of a new chapter ✨️

In March of 2020 when the world shut down, my business - Ashley Marie Fitness was born.

For the past 3 years I have done everything from teaching online yoga, pilates and boot camp classes, train clients in person at their homes, through gyms, virtually and even outdoors. I have been contracted by gyms to lead group classes and 1:1 sessions in their facility.
It has been an incredible learning experience for me, I've grown in ways I could not have imagined and met the most wonderful people.

I am so happy to say my career is staying in the health and fitness field and I have joined the team
Our goal at queen street is to help our clients achieve their goals outside of the gym by what we do inside the gym as well as coaching them through other lifestyle changes to support that.
We take a holistic approach looking at sleep, stress and nutrition first and build from there using the athletes hierarchy of needs.

I feel so confident in the ability this model has to make real change in the lives of those we are lucky enough to work with. I feel so grateful to have this opportunity that aligns so fully with what I want to give out to the world.

If you want to hear more, or you're interested in being supported by us at Queen Street, shoot me a message or an email (linked in bio).

I will be closing out this page in the coming days, but you can still connect with me via my personal Facebook account or my Instagram .and.spitup

I've said it before and I'll say it again.. the female body is absolutely mind blowing 💣

I shared all the way through my pregnancy journey and I plan to do the same throughout this period of my life and into the next. 🤰👶

As you can see there's not a huge difference between my 40 week pregnant and 2 days postpartum photos. My body was beginning to work to bring my uterus back down to its regular size while dealing with all of the inflammation that comes with labour as well as the layers of internal and external stiching from my emergency c-section.

I'm going to level with you, I have struggled hard with it all this week. ❤️

My logical mind knows that what matters is that baby Dante was delivered healthy and I had no complications with my c-section, but my feeling self (sprinkle in those post partum hormones and reduced sleep) has struggled to come to terms with it all.

It just wasn't what I wanted and my mind converted that to failure and fear.

I'm thankful that 8 days post c-section I'm dealing with minimal pain and able to move around a lot more easefully.

Also thankful that the temperatures in Kingston have once again become more mild so I can continue walking.
Along with walking I've been getting in some gentle stretches and focusing on my breathing, reconnecting with my body, my abdominals, and my pelvic floor. 💪

There is a lot of work to be done, but the goal as my body is healing is slow and steady as I gradually make my return to the movements I love. 🙏

I have follow up appointments with my midwife, the surgeon and my pelvic floor physio to help me regain the strength and confidence to take on New goals. 🔥

Right now I am reminding myself to LISTEN to my body, to be patient, to surrender to the process and trust in the strength I built prior to and throughout my pregnancy. ✌️

So happy to introduce our first born Dante Kerry Casella.

Born Saturday January 28th at 7:50pm.

Dante made quite entrance into the world after a 26hr early labour period, 8hrs in active labor, 2hrs of pushing and ultimately he was brought out in 2min in an emergency c-section.

It was an emotional day for both mom and dad, I obviously did not forsee this nor did I want to end up having a c-section, however the top priority was having a safe, healthy baby arrive and we did just that. ❤️❤️

We will be recovering in hospital for a couple days before we get to head home and start our lives as a family.
be.frank.v.c and I are so in love with this little guy and grateful for the support of our midwife team as well as the OB team at Kingston General.

Life as we know it has expanded in the best way. 💙💙😍

I'm so sick of the narrative surrounding pregnancy. 🤰

I remember at the very beginning people would say things like.. "Just wait, the bigger you get the harder it gets or.. "this is the easy part, wait until you hit your third trimester and can't do all of the things you thought you could." Etc. 🙄

Part of my motivation for posting my journey, my workouts throughout pregnancy was/is to bust that myth wide open. 💣

For YEARS I have done this type of training. I have trained my body to run, jump, lift, HEAVY. I have trained my core, my posterior chain, both my upper and lower body.
I have consumed highly nutrient dense foods with other "treats" in moderation, I have focused on hydration and recovery and that has all led me here. 🏋‍🍏

To being able to lift weights and complete other physically challenging tasks as well as the simple day to day things with relative ease all the way to the end of this pregnancy. 💪

I have gained a huge amount of knowledge and appreciation for my body AND for the years of work I've done leading up to this that have allowed me to get this far.

Your own Fitness and Health is about so much more than physical appearance. Don't get me wrong.. it's amazing to look in the mirror and say "damn, I look good".
But can you walk without pain?
Can you pick up your child/grandchildren?
Can you chase them around and keep up and still have energy for your life afterwards.

You are the ONLY person who can take accountability for those things, do not search for just the "quick fix" because it doesn't last and there is nothing meaningful there.✌️

Dig in. Find your WHY. And then ask for a support from a professional who aligns with that - not just a person with a great ass and fancy exercises posted on Instagram, or cookie cutter meal plans that have you essentially starving yourself on a toddlers allotted calories.

So yes, this post began about pregnancy and what is possible. But it truly is about what is possible at ANY stage of your life.
You don't need a fresh week, month, year, or life chapter to start taking care of YOU. 🙏

Do it NOW. Start TODAY. Start with asking yourself WHY you want it.

Get in the driver seat and LFG 🔥

Heading into my last full week of work before baby Casella is born. 👶✌️

I'll be coaching one more group class tomorrow at 6:30am, meeting with a few of my awesome clients and setting up programming to last until after he's born!

Busy one ahead but am I ever excited to spend the holidays with family and put the finishing touches on the baby prepping once we return.

Thanks Cal for the photo - super fun group workout this past Saturday! Still love a good ski erg rip. 🤘

Third Trimester FOOD 😍

During this trimester mom and baby do the most growing - baby gains 0.5-1lb/week 🤯

To support my growing baby, nourish my body to support the activity I am doing and ensure adequate recovery I'm consuming approx 2500-2700cals/day.

I prioritize whole foods, consuming adequate amounts of Fibre and drinking plenty of water to aid my digestive system. 💪

I'm focusing on high quality sources of fat for hormonal support and keeping my goal of breastfeeding in mind. 🍼
Increased amounts of protein, to help with sleep and recovery, 😴 getting my daily dose of probiotics to promote healthy gut bacteria that I will soon pass along to my babe. 👶

I am NOT skimping on the carbs as they're helping me with my energy levels throughout the day. ⚡️

I am grateful to have a strong understanding of what my baby and body need at this time in my life.

It can be challenging to navigate the world of nutrition through the changes in life.
This year alone I have eaten in a moderate calorie deficit to achieve my weightloss and body composition goals for my wedding, I have returned to maintenance calories to support my body in getting pregnant and slowly added calories throughout my pregnancy to support the continuing growth of my baby. ❤️🙏

This is just my journey and not everyone in their pregnancy will need or want to eat this exact way or amount - that's where coaching can come in!

30 weeks 🤰✨

Every morning I have the chance I linger in bed and feel you move.

Your turns, kicks and punches are becoming stronger than ever and I’m loving watching my belly move as you do.

Each day that passes I get more and more excited to meet you. To see your little face for the first time.
I bet you’ll look just like your daddy and that makes my heart burst.

I can’t wait to watch him hold you and see the pride in his eyes. To have you meet your grandparents, your aunts, uncles and cousins.

You are so loved and already so spoiled even though you’re not earth side yet.

Thinking about holding you and hearing you for the first time makes my eyes well up.

I am so grateful to be your mom.
I can’t wait to meet you baby D. ❤️❤️

I wanna thank me 💪🤰🙌

Trimester 3 training - as I head toward these last 10ish weeks of pregnancy I am SO proud of what my body is able to do.
Navigating through this change and feeling strong (most of the time).

Finding an awesome fitness community has made all the difference for me as a newby here in the city.

Working out while pregnant will definitely look different for everyone - but I am so grateful for this movement as time passes, I know it’s allowed me to feel stronger and healthier thus far. 💪🙏

FIRST TRIMESTER BLOG POST IS UP ✍️

Vlog soon to follow for those of you who prefer to watch/listen.

“Often during pregnancy I’ve heard people say things like “you’re eating for 2 now” or “now is the time in your life you can eat WHATEVER you want and you have a great excuse” but that’s not how I chose to look at it.
I am literally growing a human from scratch inside my own body - do I want this human to be grown on refined starches and sugars and processed foods or do I want them to mainly be supported by WHOLE foods rich in vitamins and minerals, high quality protein and carbohydrate sources to support them having the best chance possible to be born healthy?”

Thank you in advance for your support 🙏❤️
