Heading out on a summer road trip? Give your car a quick check before you hit the road 🚗☀️
A few minutes of preparation can save you from a breakdown when you're supposed to be enjoying your trip.
Here's what we'd check before any long drive:
✅ Tires & Alignment – Check your tire pressure and make sure there's enough tread left. If your car pulls to one side or the steering wheel isn't straight, it's a good idea to have the alignment checked. It'll make the drive smoother, improve fuel economy, and help your tires last longer.
❄️ A/C System – Test your air conditioning before you leave. If it's not blowing cold air, don't wait until you're stuck in traffic on a hot day.
🛑 Brakes – Hearing squeaking, grinding, or feeling vibrations when you brake? Have them inspected. Brakes are one thing you don't want to take chances with.
💧 Fluids & Cooling System – Check your engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, and windshield washer fluid. If your last oil change was over 8,000 km or about a year ago, it's probably time for fresh oil before a long drive.
🔋 Battery – Hot weather can be just as tough on a battery as winter. If it's been a few years since it was replaced or you've noticed slow starts, have it tested.
🧰 Emergency Kit – Pack the basics: water, a flashlight, jumper cables, a phone charger, and a first-aid kit. Hopefully you won't need them—but it's always better to be prepared.
