The importance of retorque is priority #1 . If your wheels have been removed for service or seasonal tire change over please make sure your vehicles wheel nuts have been checked and torqued to propers specs within 80-100 kms after the service, if you can’t get to a service station your vehicle is equipped with the proper wrench to remove your tires , use it to tighten the lug nuts by hand until you can reach a service station .

A scary situation for a driver and her baby this morning after the tire fell off the vehicle she was driving on Highway 417. Ottawa OPP was called to the scene shortly after 9 am. The driver recently had her summer tires put on. A reminder to retorque your tires in the summer and fall. A wheel coming off at those speeds can be a danger to both the person driving the car and anyone the tire might hit!

Can’t stress enough of how important it is to clean the snow from the roof of your vehicle

Hello Thunder Bay,

You may have already noticed, but it appears that we are now finding ourselves in the thick of winter.

Please keep that in mind when venturing out onto the roads.

For most people, this may seem obvious, but it’s particularly important to be able to see where you’re going. Three drivers have already been gifted this morning with tickets for failing to clear snow off windshields and windows. Driving in these conditions is treacherous enough. Clear your vehicles of snow and ice before going on your way.

As well, please ensure that your vehicle is road worthy - equipped with tires suitable for winter driving and with working wiper blades.

And always remember to drive according to road conditions. It may take a little longer than usual, but it’s still quicker and less expensive than being in a collision.
