Over the past several years, much of ANDA's work has involved helping communities navigate the systems around driver licensing, transportation, workforce development and mobility — including finding the funding and partnerships that can help make programs possible.

We're now offering ANDA Funding Intelligence, a quarterly advisory service for Indigenous communities and organizations, driving schools and training organizations.

Every quarter, we look at the funding landscape through the lens of your priorities and identify the opportunities we believe are worth your attention.

You don't need to pursue every opportunity.

You need to know which ones matter.

It takes a long time to make change and I’ve learned when things do shift, you have to accept those changes are far more important than credit.

Much of what is coming to drivers licensing policy is due to the countless conversations and lived experience of Indigenous peoples as captured in the Road to Reconciliation paper endorsed by UBCIC.

These changes are good for all British Columbians and will elevate employment, fast track co-pilots and support increased transportation security across the province.

To the many ADM’s and staff of Road Safety BC, thank you for listening and thank you for moving this forward.

For many people, a drivers license is something they rarely think about.

For others, it changes everything.

In the coming weeks, I will be travelling Highway 16 and the Highway of Tears corridor, documenting stories and photographs that explore the impact of drivers licensing in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of hearing stories from grandmothers driving grandchildren to appointments, aunties supporting family members, young people obtaining their first licence, fathers driving independently for the first time.

Community members whose lives changed because they could finally access work, education, health care, and opportunity.

Too often, these experiences are reduced to statistics, policies, and reports.

Yet story is knowledge.

Photography is knowledge.

Together, they help us understand the human impact of systems in ways that numbers alone cannot.

This project will explore one simple question:

How did having a driver's licence change your life?

If you live along Highway 16 and would like to share your story, I would love to hear from you.

Participants will receive copies of their photographs, and together we will create a visual record that honours the people, families, and communities who have helped make mobility possible.

Every journey begins somewhere. I'd be honoured to help tell yours.

We’re excited to congratulate our clients on their success in being granted the vision zero 2026/27 award.

Over the years of working in community, I’ve often thought about the song NDN Kars by Keith Secola.

On the surface it’s about an old car and dusty road, but underneath it carries a much deeper story about mobility, safety, and the systems people navigate just to get where they need to go.

Early in my career as a driving instructor, an Elder trusted me with a story that fundamentally reshaped how I understand safety, not only inside the vehicle, but within the systems that structure how people enter public life.

Over the years, that moment has continued to inform my work alongside communities and has deepened my belief that driver education is more than a regulatory process. It is social infrastructure …

As classroom regulations evolve across British Columbia, this feels like an important time to reflect on what must remain visible within our society, including the relational conditions that allow people to learn and succeed.
