Spring is right around the corner for those of us in the Okanagan! Before you get too excited and start up your precious VW after it’s winter slumber we recommend going through this quick pre-start up check list.
(Perhaps we should re-post this check list in 2 more months for those of our friends to the East?)

PRE-START UP CHECK LIST

- Check Oil Level
- Check Coolant Level (use G13 coolant)
- Check brake and clutch fluid level (behind your speedometer)
- Open engine bay and inspect for winter homes. Clean any debris, if there was a home, clean as best as possible, use compressed air and a vacuum to ensure you have removed it all to avoid a fire
hazard)
- Inspect ignition wires and all wiring including fuel lines for cracks or chew marks.
- Check tire pressure (check for tire wear and cracking)
- Keep engine compartment open and start vehicle. Once running walk around the vehicle and check for leaks (coolant, oil, steering rack etc.), watch for any smoke, check to see if headlights, brake light, signal lights are functioning).

Customer came in with a "bad noise" when she was steering her bay window bus. Dropped the steering box pan and found a critter had been storing walnuts for the winter.

It reminds us all to be checking our vehicles at this time of year to ensure there no nests above the engines or nuts where they shouldn't be... 😄
