We get it. The snow sucks. We're all tired of it and we all have places to go. But today may not be the day. Beyond the fact that roads just keep closing, this bitter cold is not something you want to be dealing with if you end up stuck and with the high number of calls you may be stuck for a while. If you can wait to travel, please do. Stay safe and warm.

Please let the plows get this mess cleaned up

West Region OPP would like to remind the public that with the snow accumulation over the past few days, snowplow operators are out working to clear roads and improve driving conditions.

Snowplow operators play a critical role in keeping the public safe by maintaining passable roads not only for everyday motorists, but for first responders and tow operators who need safe access during winter weather events.

Snowplow operators work long hours in challenging winter conditions. Their safety depends on the choices drivers make around them, and patience goes a long way in ensuring everyone gets home safely.

Motorists are reminded to practice safe driving behaviours around snowplows:
➡️ Keep a safe distance behind snowplows. If you can’t see the operator’s mirrors, they can’t see you.
➡️ Never pass a working snowplow. Blowing snow can create sudden whiteout conditions, putting everyone at risk.
➡️ Reduce your speed and drive according to road conditions.
➡️ Snowplows may make sudden stops or turns while clearing the roadway.
➡️ Allow extra travel time during winter weather events to avoid rushed and unsafe driving decisions.

Patience and caution around snowplows help keep plow operators, first responders, tow operators, and all road users safe. ^pia

Multiple road closures in Perth County

are advising the public that the weather continues to effect road conditions. The following Perth County roads are closed:

- Highway 23 from Elginfield Road to Palmerston
- Perth Road 131 between Perth Line 61 and Perth Line 55
- Perth Road 107 between Perth Line 56 and Perth Line 43
- Perth Line 33 between Perth Road 107 and Perth-Oxford Rd

Road crews are working at clearing the roadways, but roads will likely remain closed throughout the evening.
