The Burgess Family would like to announce that we have sold the golf car business to Stanmore Equipment Limited. Stanmore Equipment will operate out of the Stoney Creek location as Stanmore Carts West.

Glenn Burgess will remain on staff as General Manager. Phone numbers remain the same, new email addresses are below.

Stanmore will continue with sales, service, rentals, and winter storage of golf cars.

They will not be continuing with Lawn/Snow equipment sales or maintenance. Skyway will have some equipment to sell off, so do not hesitate to reach out to Heidi Burgess at [email protected].

We sadly announce the passing of Alma Burgess on Saturday September 10, 2022. She was in her 87th year. Chris and Alma Burgess started Skyway Lawn Equipment Limited in 1966 and Alma worked well into her 70’s. They passed the business on to Glenn and Heidi 20 years ago.

Alma was well respected by our employees and customers, and most fondly remembered for her legendary chocolate brownies. If any of you were fortunate enough to have her brownies, you know the secret ingredient was love….

Our condolences go to son, Glenn and daughter, Lori, and their families. Feel free to reach out with any stories as they provide comfort to the Burgess family.

As per Alma’s wishes, there will not be a service, and arrangements have been entrusted to Donald V Brown Funeral Home in Stoney Creek. The obituary will be posted shortly.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher John Burgess, October 16, 2020, in his 87th year (1934-2020). Chris had immigrated to Canada from England in 1956 and started Skyway Lawn Equipment Limited in 1966, with Alma by his side. Chris was extremely proud when his son Glenn took over the family business and continued his legacy. His daughter Lori has made Chris’ twilight years so comfortable, enabling Chris to be exactly where he wanted to be, among his family.

Chris was deeply respected by the employees at Skyway Lawn Equipment, and the many customers that have passed through the doors in the last 54 years. Chris was a mentor to many in the golf and turf industry. His no nonsense approach will be fondly remembered.

We welcome your fond memories of Chris, as they will provide comfort to the Burgess family during this time.
