Positive changes coming to Commonwealth Avenue!
Great to see safety and traffic flow improvements taking shape, including the new pedestrian crossing at the T’Railway.
Please drive carefully and watch for the upcoming changes.
Safety and traffic flow improvements are coming to Commonwealth Avenue!
The new pedestrian-activated crossing at the T'Railway is almost complete and will soon provide a safer way for pedestrians and trail users to cross Commonwealth Avenue.
In preparation, you will soon notice a new lane configuration at the Commonwealth Avenue, Park Avenue and Ruth Avenue intersection. When travelling in the southbound outside lane of Commonwealth Avenue, motorists can continue straight through the intersection, as there will no longer be a mandatory right-turn lane onto Ruth Avenue.
Vehicles travelling east on Ruth Avenue and turning right onto southbound Commonwealth Avenue will now be required to stop before entering Commonwealth Avenue, rather than yield.
This project, funded in part through a grant from Trans Canada Trail, is designed to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists while enhancing traffic flow through the intersection.
Motorists can expect temporary lane restrictions while signal poles are installed, and line painting is completed. Please use caution and follow all posted signage in the area.
The City appreciates the public's cooperation as final work is completed and these safety improvements are put into service.
