At Knight’s Auto & Diesel, diagnostics are our specialty.

After more than 40 years turning wrenches, Kevin has developed a real passion for the puzzle side of mechanics tracking down the root cause of issues and fixing them properly.

Not every problem reveals itself right away.

Sometimes it takes testing.
Sometimes it takes patience.
Sometimes it takes working through a few possibilities before the full picture becomes clear.

But the goal is always the same:
Find the real cause and fix it right.

IS THIS WORTH IT?

I thought it would be interesting to run a poll in two small homesteading groups to gauge interest in private consultations for on farm machinery. Essentially, instead of a service call to just fix a machine, a chance to showcase your land , your goals, and how to get the most from your machine or what you would be best to buy.

THE RESPONSE?

Shame. Folks tried to shame me for asking the question at all. They felt a licensed mechanic sharing his wisdom was outrageous and ought to be free.
Most of the folks felt YouTube was the solution over engaging with their local mechanic or having any personal interaction.

MADE IN CANADA
What a movement, eh? What's it really helping when folks feel that a stranger on YouTube is better to support than their local, 43 years experienced mechanic.

WE ARE THE SOLUTION
If we really want change in the world, we have to get brutally honest with ourselves. Bigger than our dollars spent, we need to check in with our relationships.

WHAT ARE WE DOING PERSONALLY TO BUILD FOLKS UP? To honour their lifestyle experience and wisdom, to celebrate their contributions to our community? How are we helping each other grow? Feel loved? Feel important? How are we creating a sense of belonging? This is seldom done just with shopping, and it's often better when no screen involved.

DESTRUCTION LOATHES CREATION
In a world bent on destroying everything, stay focused on what you are creating.

A garden, pair of socks, a meal, a painting, a song, a child.

Change is in each of us. Be willing to examine everything you know about yourself and the world, and when blame rears its head, ask what you can do differently. When panic over the state of affairs surfaces use it as an invitation to examine the state within you!

This is a warriors' path. This is the heros journey, and this is the high road.

Shine bright. I believe in each of you. Love has already won, and in that, there is no place for shame or blame.

A check engine light or strange noise doesn’t mean a part has “failed.”

It means the vehicle is telling you something isn’t right.

Replacing parts without proper diagnosis is expensive — and often unnecessary.

A code is just a clue. The real work is understanding why it appeared and how the system is behaving as a whole.

That’s why we take the time to diagnose properly before recommending repairs.
It saves money, prevents repeat issues, and fixes the actual problem — not just the symptom.
